Gotcha, just trying to see if you were interested in saving a little cash lol. My 2.7L has no problem and has a great ride on all terrains at all speeds (I do a ton of interstate driving, 120 miles per day to be exact). I also have a heavy fiberglass camper shell. I'm getting about 18-19 mpg currently, I lost about 2-3mpg average when I went to the bigger tire.

Of course, mine is the 2WD PreRunner so your 4x4 would probably be less. Also, I'm not sure if the BFGs will ride much different than my tires, but both have nearly the same aggressive tread pattern.

Its kind of a Catch 22; I have a 3500 Express with Duramax riding E-rated Highway tires... When it is unloaded the rear tends to bounce around a little more. But I contribute that to the stiffer sidewalls & stiffer springs and not weight, it'll do that. Tacoma has much softer rear springs which can move more easily on bumps.

    Totally different.

Those softer rear springs have very little weight above them, so your leafs do less work "absorbing" and instead will jounce and bump instead of cushion blows from the road, like a much heavier 1 ton van. Your P rated OEM tires are soft and flexible which help absorb those jolts, an E rated tire isn't going to do that.

    Not exactly comparable.

But if you're set on E Rated, go for it. It's not what you think it will be, if that's your reasoning.

I've direct messaged a few guys who have the Access Cab and 2.7L... and waiting for a response on how they like the E-Rated tires.

If it stiffens the ride up, fine. I used to have a e46 M3; you could feel cement expansion joints on the Highway.

    I did it... I went with BGF AT KO2 in 265/75R16. I ordered them from BJ's and I paid $820 for 4 (with tax & $70 coupon).

Once I get them installed, I'll report back.

235x85x16's on my '14 rc. They look good, pull good and raised it enough to get under it for maintenance w/o using a jack.
They do have a thirst for fuel and it runs out of gears to downshift to on steep grades.

I really thought about that size too... but I plan on adding a 2-2.5"/1.5" lift this summer.

Update. I have driven about 1000 miles and filled up 3 times and I couldn't be any happier!!!

Let me start off by saying; with my P245/75R16's my speedometer was reading 68/69 mph, but my GPS said I was doing 65mph. I was averaging 20.4 mpg using my 'Road Trip' app.

Now with the LT265/75R16 BFG AT KO2's; my speedometer and GPS match at 65mph and I am averaging 18.2 mpg on the App.

Also, Average Temps was in the 55-70s for the last 6 month that I had the Dunlops on and then the following day 'Winter' came for MD and its been in the 25-45s.

I vote nay. I noticed the hit hard enough with the v6. You'd be feeling it a lot worse.

I recently went to 235/85 on my 4cyl which are the same diameter as 265/75 and I noticed the speed thing too. My speed seems to be more accurate now. Also I didn't notice a performance change.

I'm not to concerned about Speed or Towing power. If that was the case, I'll drive my mod'ed 3500 Duramax Cargo Van instead.

On flat land, I didn't notice any difference. The only spot I notice a difference is on some long steep hills, I have to down shift to 4th to maintain speed.

Yea I just installed mine today on my dcsb 2.7l auto.. I didn't feel any difference in power loss even going up hills, and the tire was supposably 54lbs a tire.. I did however had to remove my two front mudflaps and the two little plastics in the front of the tire.. I'm guessing it's like another little mudflap.. But overall I'm happy with them.. And they look really dope with the 1.25" spacers

    Nskcorona, looking good.

I am keeping my mud flaps on, I live down a gravel road and I hear the stones all the time hitting the truck.

I am planning on a 2-2.5" lift this summer with Spidertrax wheel spacers.

Although my truck is older, it has a 2.7 and it's a double cab. I run 265/75/16 KO2's E load. I haven't lost any MPG or ride comfort in all honesty. I run 50 pounds and no problems. Although rubbing for me was a problem at first. People say there's no rubbing BUT these tires have a tread depth of 15 instead of 12.5 like most tires. So they're a little bigger. But some trimming helped that out. And that's even with 5100 adjustable so up front.

Yea same here.. I was thinking 1.5"-2" for mine.. But I want to put the mud flaps back on after the lift, I just couldn't take the nasty loud rubbing everytime I backed up turned the wheel all the way

Yikes...Going to a 265/16 or 17 for the 2.7L has no benefits other than its a bigger tire with a little bit more ground clearence... not worth the loss in the MPG from what I've gathered on the forum.

I have a stock 2.7L 5MT Prerunner, and wanted to get the TRD Pro 4runner rims with a 245/75/17. I originally wanted 265s, but like I said above, it seems not worth it, unless you want a fuller wheel well.

Can anyone tell me something different, or if I am wrong? Thanks!

I think if you need the tires, then it's an obvious yes. If you don't need them and you just want them for looks but still want MPGs, then it's a no.

Eh, totally your call. What you would lack in performance, you would make up in appearance ;) Here's mine with 265/70/17s albeit they're load range C.
