I'm looking for 275/65/18 BFGs ATs in load range C or D but can't seem to find them? Why is it that most of their tires are load range E? im looking to put these on a 4 runner....not a full size pickup...I don't need 10 ply tires Christ!

I even checked BFGs site and can't find anything?!

    Other brands anyone's suggests?

Also noticed this disclaimers about snow conditions and not meeting the requirements for the size I'm looking for ......I'm in Maine.....should I be worried?

I ran LT 265/70/17 (I believe they were C rated) on my Tundra for about 100k miles...on the last set of tires I went back to P rated tires (BFG Rugged Terrain). I was amazed at the difference in ride quality between the two, The P rated ones are a tad mushier in cornering but I don't think I'd ever go back as the ride is overall so much better with the P rated tires (mainly street driven). I ran the AT's at 35psi and they were still really stiff. We have concrete freeways and the expansion joints really sucked! Much nicer with the new tires (about 20k on them now). I like them better in the rain and snow also. We usually only get 6"-12" of snow, but I've had them in stuff close to 2ft. and plowed right through. Couldn't do that with my AT's. If I remember right the Rugged Terrain have the triple peak snow rating and are also wear warrantied to 50K miles....AT's no tread life wty. As to Load Rating to get the rated rating you need to run higher pressures. If you chek you will find that a P rated truck tire has a higher rated capacity at 30psi than an E rated tire of the same size. Not sure what comes on the new TRD Pros as far as rating, but they require 42psi vs a much lower psi for a standard taco though both weigh roughly the same. Run the higher rated tires to low and you have serious heat issues etc.

I ran BFG TA KOs in load range E for ~55k. Didn't notice any difference. If it's a good deal, get it. That's what I did

Going from C to E may be too rough for your liking on a Tacoma. BFG's tend to have stiffer sidewalls than something like Duratracs. If you want a nice riding tire as a DD in that size, I recommend P-rated Hankooks Dynapro ATM in 275/65/18. I used to run those before going bigger and those are very smooth being P-rated with a nice mildly aggressive tread pattern. FWIW, discount tires usually gives a 30 day satisfaction guarantee on tire purchases. You can swap for another set if you don't like the ride performance. I've done that a few times on past tire purchases.

I have BFG E rated on my taco now and they are stiff....why the F doesn't BFG make more C rated tires? Called them today and some ignorant lady answered the phone who didn't know any answers to any of my questions. This alone makes me not want to spend money with them.

I just got the E rated KO2's on my truck this week. Coming from P rated Firestone Destination AT's. I don't think the difference is all that big. I wouldn't even call it a harsh ride. Yes is feels different, but I actually like the way it feels now better. More stable and less floaty. Bumps are more noticeable but again it's not harsh.

Discount Tire inflated them to 37psi. I'm used to lowered cars that ride pretty harsh with stiff suspension so that's where I'm coming from. I love these tires so far by the way.

I run the load range E KO’s and love them. I usually run around 42psi on the highway to decreaserolling resistance and air down for the trails. They are a bit stiff, but I don’t mind it riding like a truck.I really like the extra protection of the 3ply sidewall and the 10 ply base for the rocky trails. I went from passenger rated stock tires on another truck to these and the difference wasn’t that bad.

I went from a load range D 265/75/16 BFG to a P rated Michelin and the ride is way smoother..E is going to be much stiffer than P rated..

Kind of in the same boat. I wish there were more options in "32 or 33" sized AT tires as far as load rating. Load E is just overkill for me and my use. Trying to find an AT or MT tire under 50 lbs in a " 33 ", impossible. A "32" a little better but still limited. About to replace my 265/70/17 BFG AT KO in Spring time. Moving a size up when I do regardless.

While I think the gist of it all has been summed up, I will chime in as the OP has requested more opinions.

I have run C rated and P rated tires on my truck. I have also ridden a fair amount on load E tires in my buddies Tacoma. I can clearly feel a difference between all three tire ratings, and the difference is as you might expect. The load E was way too rough for my taste. The roads up here are pretty beat up as a result of all the freezing and thawing. The stiff tires only make it more painfully obvious.

I ran load C BFG ATKO after ditching the stockers and while I was very happy with the overall improvement in ride quality, it was stiffer, I lost mpg's and gained noticeable rolling resistance.

I am currently on P rated 285's and am very happy with them. They were an improvement over the C load BFG. Rolling resistance has reduced and overall traction has improved with the Toyo AT's.

I don't rock crawl recreationally, nor do I regularly pull a super-heavy trailer, so I feel no need for a heavier duty tire. I have not had any issues running dirt trails and gravel roads, terrain I run regularly. My trailer usually has either an ATV or a snowmobile with gear. I have found P range tires are more than sufficient.

Get what suits your needs IMO. The only reason I would put a D or E load tire on my truck is if I was crawling rocks or had a serious aversion to changing out a potential flat tire. From what I have seen, there are a lot of guys running the entire range of load possibilities. The smart guys are running what they need.

The really good lookin' one's will give you higher high's and lower low's in my experience. It's good to choose the one that suit's your needs overall.

You can only pass so much time in bed with your tires.

BFG E rated tires are HEAVY and will bring down your perf and MPG if you get big ones. i have 34" BFGTAKO's on a 20" rim and i am losing 2MPG from stock and the truck is always shifting to accelerate even a little bit while on the freeway. Makes me wanna regear or supercharge or something... or get rid of the e-load tires.
