It looks like they just extended the lugs further down the sidewall. Hopefully they'll make this one in 285 70 r17 E range

Im sure they will. Bfg caters to a lot of different sizes/load ranges. I just need something with more traction. These generals are awesome and i got a hell of a deal on them but do not grip whatsoever on rocks.

I love my km2's for traction. I'm on my 3rd set of them. It's an awesome all around tire. My one gripe with them is they don't make the size I run in a "e". And a trail limo with several hundred extra pounds on it is a bit much for aired down "d" range tires. Sometimes they sound like they're about to lose the bead.IMG_20161120_113315878_HDR.jpg

They look a lot like the new baja ta which is great since the generals are discontinued and trhe x3s arent specialized for desert. These will probably be my next tire if they come out looking like this

5100's all around, OME 887 with 1/4" spacer, icon 3 leaf aal. 255/75/17 BFG KM's on 4runner pro's. Rigid led pods. Debadged and tinted.
I've got a friend that was chosen to run them on his work truck. The area we work in, we were lucky to get 14k miles out of a set of KM2's on a super duty that weighs around 10k pounds rigged up. His initial impressions were all positive, and he said they are an overall improvement over the KM2's. I'll have to get a hold of him today and see how they are holding up.

I got an updated review from him. 7,500 miles in, tires are around half tread. Best estimate is he will get 15k miles out of them, so on par with the km2. Slightly quiter on the highway, negligible difference. He said they are working really well in the clay mud. Also, they aren't rock cutting/chunking as bad as the km2's.

The chunking is the biggest issue we always had with the km2's and coopers. Besides the km2's separating and blowing out before they changed the compounds. The Toyo M/T's and Nitto Trail's were always the best for holding up to the abuse, and would last nearly 20k miles.

Sounds like they arent a huge improvement at this point...

I literally posted an article from May of 2017 with someone testing them...

I wasn't being serious. But there were articles from more than a year ago testing these tires, as well as my personal contact with BFG on the matter. For some reason their release got set back more than a year at this point.

That's pretty interesting. Hopefully they do get released at some point. I like the siping they are finally incorporating into the mud terrain. One good thing about BFG is they always have those hard to find sizes that go well with Tacomas and 4Runners like 33/10.5 and 255/85

Holy crap! 15,000 miles. What truck is he running? A deuce and a half? I’ve got KM2’s and I’ve got 43,000 miles. They are cupping, but that’s my fault for not rotating them enough. And they did get louder the last 5,000. Not bad though. I realize this thread is dated, but I need new tires and wondering if the KM3’s are worth the wait.

I went from KM2 to KM3 and I'm a fan. Same aggressive performance with a quieter run on the highway. The pre-production prototypes were available in several durometer ratings so wear will absolutely vary on the testing. My 2 cents...
