I've sold tires for years, been in logistics for one of the worlds largest distributors for the last decade, I know TOOO much about tires. Here's my take. You bought a damn nice set of rubber, grade A. Letters in or out doesn't matter, I think it depends on what look you want. Out is more old school and aggressive, In is more classy and refined. HOWEVER, if you bought some Chinese Maypops for the love of God letters in. The world doesn't need to see your Payless car shoes brand name. I'm sure everyone will get a good look at the white letters on the LingLong Crosswind A/T's when the trucks on its roof in a ditch after a drizzle.

My friend orderred the white letter one specifically to match his trd pro bronze wheels. While when he went to install the tires and the lift kit, the guy put the letters inside. He did no realize that until he arrived home. He sent the email to ask why the letter was inside. The guy side most of the people wanted the letters inside. He took it as default. Felt sorry for my friend. :(

LingLong. Haven’t heard or seen that in a while.

I agree though, white letters are a more rugged and vintage look while black sidewalls look a bit more refined. I went with black sidewalls out on my Sport to keep a nice stealthy look, but ran the white letters on my 2008 for that vintage Marty McFly look. I ended up flipping the white letters in after a couple years due to yellowing. Neither choice performs better than the other so it’s up to your personal liking.

If you sell tires and don't ask the customer you are just plain lazy. Same as "salesmen" who don't walk out to the customers vehicle when they come in. A simple walk around of the vehicle can tell you a novel's worth of info. Not only are you sure you get the size right, but mechanical issues (alignment, suspension wear, bet you'll buy that alignment when I show you on the car you just pulled in with that the edge wear brought you in 4-5 months early), lifestyle ( a camping brand or state park sticker tells me right away what kind of product the customer probably needs, a stick figure family tells me to show the customer safety info on the tires I recommend, a laptop bag on the passenger seat clues you to ask if its a work vehicle, and if mileage warranty is important). Again, I know TOOO much about tires, but that's my job, I don't expect anyone else to. Its info most people don't know or care to know. It grinds my gears however when someone goes to someone who has a giant sign on their building that says they know these things and doesn't make an ounce of effort to meet that persons needs. The best set of premium Michelin's will come right back with a complaint if you put them on the wrong application. The art of sales is dead.

Couldnt agree more. If you find yourself with yellowed letters again a good degreaser and some light work with 400 grit sandpaper on the letters will brighten them back up. Don't go crazy of course.

I’d always scrub my tires with a nice brush and some degreaser every time I wash my truck but they cracked and yellowed with the insane heat we have here. 3 years, 34,000 miles and they’ve still got 1/4 tread left. It’s an excellent tire that’s worth every penny IMO.

Absolutely, Michelin umbrella tires (don't know how much you know about the industry Michelin, BFG, Uniroyal are one company) are notorious for dry rotting before the useful tread is gone. I had several people complain to me there was O Zone cracking on their 8 year old Michelins with 5/32nds tread left. I would try and explain that's like a woman with two Virginia hams under each arm complaining she doesn't have any bread, but the average joe doesn't know dry rotting is the natural result of rubber and time and isn't a design flaw.

 Then I'm sure you know the customer type I'm referring to. Much like the 15 year old S Class driver with mismatched no name's on all four corners who wants the $19.99 oil change special for their V-12 BiTurbo that takes 12 quarts of full synthetic, and if they don't get it its "bait and switch"

Think I just remembered why I went into wholesale............

I treat the tires on my 08 like shit and have never gotten a flat (knock on wood) or any issues balancing, but I have noticed the cracking. Figured it was normal due to age and weather conditions. Gotta make an appointment at DT to get them rotated and balanced.

I don't normally like white vehicles, but that setup in that terrain is beautiful. Took a second for me to notice the pooch in the picture lol.
