I've been living out in Colorado and driving up mountain passes in hellacious conditions for over 20 years. I've also done my fair share of off-roading. I also mostly used the Tacoma (and all previous 4x4s) on pavement like most "normal" drivers.

That said, all I've ever owned are BFG All Terrains. This is probably my 6th set of them transcending three different vehicles. They are the perfect all around tire IMO. My last set, on the Tacoma (31 x 10.5) lasting over 105,000 miles - 8 years.

I used to have a '90 full size Bronco and a friend had an '89 full size Bronco. I had the BFG ATs (33 x 12.5) and he had the BFG MTs (33 x 12.5). The All Terrains out performed the Mud Terrains in every aspect of our "normal" driving routines from dry pavement to snow to off roading. (No I, nor he, ever went mudding). One of the biggest differences is road noise. The ATs are much quieter and are probably a bit more MPG friendly

    Just my $0.02

i just switched from kuhmo MT's to BFG ST KO's

the kuhmo's were loud and bad in the rain...terrible in snow/slush

the bgf's so far are excellent in the rain (with no weight in the back) very quiet and seem to be getting MUCH better mpg

i'm happy with the switch....i'll be trying them out in snow this weekend
