I went thru two Brand new BFG AT's in the first 600 miles of a 3 month Baja/Mainland Mex Trip, and the first tire issue was a sidewall hole :(

I am close to buying new tires now, and I have had good results with the BFG AT's as well over the years. 50K+ on small trucks seem to be the norm. But I like the feedback thus far with the duratracs. I think the performance will be better overall with the duratracs, even though the overall mileage may be lower. The only other thing I wonder about is how much noise they make on road doing the daily driver thing? I did not think the BFG AT's were noisy at all?
Currently, I have to deal with a lot of sugar sand off road, which I know the BFG's will do fine in. And, some muddy stuff at times. So, what do I do? I do like the new aggressive tread of the Goodyear duratracs, but is it too loud on the road? What do I go with next?

Heavy stuff big tires drives like hell
They are different tires in my opinion.

I would suggest the BFG TA KO.... But if you were going for a more rugged, offroading oriented tire, like the Duratrac, why not just get the Wrangler MTR's?

I am biased, as this is the thought process I went through while buying my last tires... Ended up with the MTR's ;)

I see here the Duratracs are rated pretty high in snowy conditions, but what about the BFG's? What would be a better tire in Canadian winter? (6 months of snow)

I have no experience with Duratracs, but I've logged over 100K miles on BFG A/T KOs through numerous Colorado winters. Not quite Canada, I understand, but PLENTY of snow. I've NEVER had a problem with them.

Just ordered my Dura-Trac 295/70 17R's. If anybody has these how is the tread life and road noise. I'm running BF Goodrich AT's right now and I've already had a blowout at 10k miles so I wanted to try the Dura-Tracs

What were you doing? I've got about 120K (on and off-road) miles on three different sets of BFGs and have never had a problem like that. IIRC, the BFGs are known for pretty sturdy sidewalls, so this surprises me.

Duratracs. Way more siping. Or even better, studded duratracs. And because they're a way softer compound they'll be more grippy in colder weather too.

I have had both on my 07 dc 4x4.

BFG- quiet, good on road all around good off road. Lasted me 60k.

Goodyear- road hummm, good on road (softer than bfg's) better off road in mud and better bite on rocks. Imo - 4wheelin in 60% driver 40% apparatus.

I love the goodyears but only worry is slightly less mpg 1mpg drop and I don't know how many miles and how much az sun they will take.

I am surprised at the sidewall issues too, as that is one of their strengths, and one of the reasons I run them. If I wanted a more aggressive tire geared more towards mud/softer tread, the KM2's would be my choice. The guys at the tire shop I use have seen the duratracs wear too fast for my taste.

Have duratracs right now. They are a good tire awesome in the snow. I have 12k on them with little to no wear. I just purchased 4 bfg atko 32x1150x15 because I think they are a better tire.
I have also had nitto Terra grapplers with over 50k and still had about 50% tread life. I don't understand how people aren't getting descent miles out of em.
