    BFGs!

Oh wait... I mean Goodyears, haha. I haven't run the duratracs but I'm looking hard at them. BFGs are cheaper but my experience with them just got a lot worse. I was not impressed with them in the snow last year either.

I've had BFG's before on a 4Runner I used to have... I thought they sucked in the snow IMHO.

I had BFG's on my fullsize Blazer and they were terrible in the snow. The Bridgstone Dueler Revo was the best snow tire I've had experience with.

I have Duratracs on the Tacoma but have not taken them to the snow yet, but I've been impressed with the tire everywhere else so far (on my 2nd year)

Just bought BFGs because I think the sidewall is a bit too much on the Goodyears. I do off road a pretty good amount for reasons other than pleasure. The BFGs are what is referred to as a known quantity and I put value in that fact. I need a tire that is going to last and is liveable for day to day use but absolutely have to perform consistently. May not be the best performer, but absolutely has to be consistent. They are definitely a step above the Dunlop Grandtrek AT20s they are replacing.

First of all you cant go wrong with either tire.
I always had BFG ATs on my trucks when I was younger. But i thought I would try the Duratracs on my new 2012 Tacoma. I had them put on about 2 weeks ago and I am very pleased. I like the agressive look they have and they are the perfect step in between AT & MT. I havent noticed much noise and I noticed a huge improvement in handling over the stock Dunlop AT 20 Grand Treks. Everyone seems to say they are great in snow, ice and sand, but in this part of Texas we dont have any of that.
Our biggest problem in South Texas is mesquite thorns and 100 ply wont stop those.
The guys at my Discount tire said the Duratrac is the most popular tire for Toyotas and light trucks by far.

I have already recieved numerous compliments from neighbors and co-workers saying..."Wow, that looks like a serious/tough truck with those tires.

It is all a matter of personal opinion, but for all BFG owners, you will not be disappointed in switching to Goodyear.

That is just my 2 cents.

I took my duratracs to Moab and they did great with 12-20 psi in them for a week, on and off road, no side wall damage at all. They did awesome in the sand and on slick rock.

Not positive - but most likely started with a gash from a rock a week before. Then the weight of a trailer on the highway made it blow out.

Trying to make this decision now. I've run the BFGs previously on an S15 Jimmy 4dr 4x4. Put 75,000+ on them. If I'd kept them properly aligned they'd have gone much further. Never got stuck in snow or ice but often found myself rescuing others during lowland snow and while in the mountains skiing and winter camping. Best price I've found locally is $920 otd for 4 from Costco.

Local Goodyear store quoted me $824 otd for 4 Duratracs 245/75/16 load range C. When I asked what kind of mileage I should expect, noting past experience with the BFGs, the salesman kinda snickered and said "maybe 40,000". He then mentioned that he runs BFG Mud Terrains on his personal vehicle (K5 Blazer) and has nearly 50,000 miles on them with lots of life left.

So I'm torn. $824 for Duratracs that last 40k, maybe more... or $920 for BFG All Terrains that will likely last twice as long. Sounds like the softer compound of the Duratracs would negate any mpg advantage from the lighter weight. So it comes down to a slight advantage in grip/traction and a more aggressive appearance... Is it worth nearly double the price of the BFGs?

I have only had the BFG KOs but I cant say I can complain about them. They were everything I wanted in a tire. Only 2 minor problems but I knew that before I bought them.
    1. They are not great in icy conditions
    2. Kill your MPG

I think snow and ice are the Duratracs best qualities....
