Found my tires finally. Imo, going toyo at 2 because I have a passenger rating. And there warranty goes for 65000. Also 3/4 of my driving is on pavment. And price is good.

I have duratracs and so do quite a few other guys out here in UT. Great in mud, snow, rain, dirt, and pavement. Not as loud as you'd think they would be with how aggressive they look.

I've heard than when people air down below 20 this is an issue. Or they didn't check the tire pressure prior to towing.

For you guys that deal with snow.

    Skinny tire?
    Or fat?

I have to deal with snow occasionally when I visit my family up north but don't have much experience with snow.

Thanks for any help. Didn't want to start a new thread.

I have some tall skinny 235/85/16 bfg ats and i live in anchorage ak. they did good on the ice and great on snow. i rolled around in 2wd most of the time unless i needed to get somewhere quick, really had to stomp it in four to get those tires broken loose. just my $.02 :)

Alright I'll post again, I've run both now. Now on a set of treadwrights. The BFGs are decent tires. I killed two but ran em longer than the duratracs. One I lost to a sidewall, though I knew when I hit that rock it was going to happen. The other I cut the tread off the top down to the belts, weird but probably a fluke. Not sure it really says much about the BFGs either way but that's my point, either tire can fail, I don't think theres any inherent weakness in the duratracs or BFGs. Either way you cut it (har har) they'll both serve you well but I'm pretty convinced the duratracs did much better in mud. I'd run duratracs again, wish I had em now in fact.

Anybody run these in a hot climate? I assume because of softer rubber compound they would wear out prematurely with hotter weather. I live in Bishop, CA so I have to deal with desert and mountain/snow terrain. Duratracs are my first pick but I don't want to have to buy tires in 25-30k miles.

That's a concern of mine as well.... We have harsh winters and the Summer temps are in the 90's. I drive more highway too so wondering if the BFG's are the route to go..

Currently on 3rd set of BFG. Ive run it in hot florida summers and cold washington winters with no issues whatsoever. Great tire.

I am checking out TOYO Open Country All Terrain II. They have changed it a bit, looks little more aggresive than before, quality should be good.

Still running my 285 Bridgestone revo 2s and love them. So smooth on the road but still great off road. I got the passenger rated tires because they were much lighter and still stronger specs then the 265 BFGs I had on before.

I voted Benjamin Franklin Goodrich (BFG) cause that's what I have and they last forever. I have also heard of sidewall blow outs on the duratrac's.
Guess I'm just a BFG guy.

    Thanks,

    Brett

quick question here. I just got the BFG TA KOs not too long ago and they were set at whatever PSI sears set them to. Just recently Firestone set the PSI at 32/30 when I took it in for alignment based on door jamb info. I currently have them set at 38/36 and was curious as to what some of you guys have them set at that you are getting such good mileage out of them

Well I just read every post in this thread and still can't decide lol. I'm leaning toward the duratracs in the same size I'm running now (265/75/16) or go up to 285s. I'm lifting soon so 285s will work. I drive in snow/ice for over 6 months out of the year, that's why I like the duratracs so much. But I'm worried about the sidewalls blowing out...I really don't wheel places that have sharp rocks or anything, but I do haul a lot of crap when I fish/camp. I think I'll give duratracs a try unless someone can chime in and change my mind haha.

haha thanks. I see tons of people up here with BFG ATs though. So it's obviously a popular tire, but I always see the tread on them just packed full of snow and ice and not clearing. My buddy just put a set on his 2012 outback haha, it looks freakin awesome and he was going through snow I couldn't get through with my truck
