I want to put on BFG T/A K02 275/70R17 on my 2015 DC TRD O/R. The tires are supposed to be 32.2 inch diameter.

I went searching in junk yards for 17 x 7.5 wheels from a 2nd gen Tacoma. Luckily, and not surprisingly, they have the same offset as the stock 16 inch rims. I found 5 of the alloy 5 spoke rims for $350, but they charged me $20 each for center cap (I only got 4). So 5 rims for $430.

I have a 2" lift with OME BP51Bs and Built Right UCAs. When I put the lift kit on, a weight on the inside of the 16" rims rubbed on the LCA. They put on 1.25" spacers and rub be gone.

So here is the standard question.... Will the BFG T/A K02 275/70R17 rub? I do not want to do a CMC or rip out fender well liners. Lose or modify the mud flaps...things are a PITA when I off-road anyway...so I am likely OK with that option.

Will I need the spacers on to avoid rubbing the new set up on the frame, suspension or wheel wells?

Will the BFG T/A K02 275/70R17 fit the spare storage on a 2015 Tacoma DC TRD O/R (short bed)?

    Thanks.

    Norman

I'm looking at AmericasTire website and trying to get a 315/70-17 KO2 in C-load and the load index I see is 113S with load range C, but then there's an OE Designation of FORD/LINCOLN/MERCURY. Do these OE designations matter?

No, it shouldn't matter. They do the same thing with the 285/70R17 in C-load and it says OE designation for Jeep because they made that tire for the Rubicon. I believe the 315/70R17 C might be for the Raptor but not sure as I would have thought it would have an E-load. But I also believe it is only a half-ton which makes a C-load make sense.

@INT.EGRATED - @PreTaco170 hit the nail on the head, the 315/70R-17 LR-C "FO" is the O.E. tire for the Ford Raptor. This tire can certainly be run on other non Raptor applications as long as the tire is properly load rated for the vehicle application and approved for the intended wheel rim width.

I'll add that O.E. specific tires are designed for the specific vehicle they are equipped on and may differ from that of the catalog version. In other words, there may be "tweaks" in the tire such as tread design to meet the needs set by the vehicle manufacturer.

Do they make a 285/75/16 in a C rated tire?

They do not currently, LR-E (10-ply rated) only. I don't believe any manufacturers actually offer anything lower than LR-D in the 285/75R-16 sizing. 285/70R-17 however, is a different story.

If I go with KO2 in 285/70/17 (https://www.discounttiredirect.com/buy-tires/bfgoodrich-all-terrain-t-a-ko2) will I have to re-gear? And I noticed people on here usually run 265/70/17 vs 285/70/17..why is that? (aside from obvious MPG reduction). Also, what is the difference between the 116Q and 116S? I see that the Q is for the OE designation but will this really matter? They also differ in pricing..

Btw I own a 19 TRD Pro. Mostly pavement driving but want that beefier look while also capable when going off road. I will also be installing 17 TRD Pro 4runner wheels.

Sorry for all the questions, I just dont want to do it right the first time before I pull the trigger.

you will not have to regear, it is more of a convenience but with 33” aka 285’s its not as drastic as 35”. 265/70-17 does not require a cab mount chop or a lift (ymmv) and is bigger than stock by 1 size, but 285’s you do (99%) require a chop and lift.

No worries about the questions, TW is a great place for that!

The Q and the S are speed ratings on the tires. Q is listed as a max of 100 mph and S is listed as a max of 112 mph. I’m not sure how fast you drive and I can’t remember the top speed of our trucks but I don’t believe I have ever gone over 105ish in my truck.

With that being said, I never get too concerned about speed ratings on my Tacoma tires because I barely ever drive over 85. Years ago, I had a fast 1989 Mustang 5.0 and I did concern myself with speed ratings then.

    I'm here to eat crow.

For a few years I was running the 34" KO2 D's, and I thought they were perfectly fine. A couple months ago I switched to the 285/75 KO2's in E's, thinking that there wouldn't be a whole lot of difference coming from the D's. Well, that lasted for about 500 miles before I had had enough. Thankfully Discount Tire has absolutely baller customer service and they were willing to swap them out for just the difference in tire price. Wanting to stick with the same size tire the only option I had was the Ridge Grappler in C. I had them installed this morning and it was immediately a night and day difference. These ride so much nicer.

The KO2's had never disappointed, so I'm bummed to be moving away from those. We'll see how the Nittos do on the trail....

I appreciate you coming back to say that. I'm at the end of the stock Toyos lives.

I ended up ordering duratracs in the 265/70r16s.

I cant decide between Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac or BFG KO2. Had Duratrac on my 2000 Tundra and loved em and had KO2 on my 2019 4Runner and loved em. Also if I go KO2 do I get the DT version? Not sure what to do

I think you'd be happy with either by the sounds of it. I personally went for the Duratracs in 265/70/R16 in the SLs. I didn't need LT tires because my offroading would be limited, but I definitely needed something that could handle occasional fields, camps, and snowstorms.

I wanted to KO2s, but could only get E Load. That felt like overkill to me.

Also before I got the Duratracs, thought they were ugly af and would look like crap on a Tacoma. Turns out they're a sexy tire. There's little GY symbols on the sides of the tread blocks and the sidewall tread looks good. They fill up the wheel well with even the stock size.

Has anyone sourced 265/75/16 KO2s with black sidewall letters? According to BFG website, they no longer offer them? White lettering is a turn off.

Ummm, just mount them white letters in.......

If the white letters in still bother you, take a black sharpie to them. You won't see them
