I absolutely love the way these tires transformed the look of my truck!

I had firestone destination AT's in the stock size from when I bought the truck. For some reason it just didn't look right to me, something was off.

These tires fixed that right up!

Also the extra weight and stiffness of the E rated tire is nothing like I thought it would be. This is something I was really worried about. I can't really tell if these are any more noisy then the destination at's. And as for the sidewall stiffness, I actually like how it feels now better! Just feels more stable I guess.

LT tires typically ride a little stiffer when compared to standard load passenger tires. Like you noted, this is due to higher inflation requirements and heavy duty construction. 35PSI is the minimum cold inflation pressure we recommend you run your LT265/75R-16E KO2 tires at.

As far as the $70.00 BFG Rebate goes, we are excluded from this particular promotion.

So far they seem to be performing loads better in the snow than the KOs. Though with the shocks being a little underpressured from our altitude climbing and descending now paired with the extra weight of snow on the truck...so much rubbing haha

The snow isn't super deep currently (on the roads at least), just enough to make it icy, but noticed it seems to grip a lot better.

I didn't get any pictures but if we go out again later I could possibly gets some poser shots in a parking lot haha

Did get a pic of our crawler last night, though not quite KO2s haha

Very interested in the KO2s for my stock DCSB 4x4, but concerned about the rubbing noted above. Would anyone with 265/75-16s (I'm on stock wheels) be willing to measure the diameter (horizontally) of the mounted tire to help me anticipate fender clearance issues? I know the calculated value is 31.7", but wonder if the KO2s are coming in larger.

    Thanks.

aired up to 40lbs, 31"vertical, and 31 3/8th horizontal. ive only drove it 3 miles so my words arent writen in stone just yet, but it took a 3" curb at 7mph at full lock to rub. flat ground they do not rub. im not worried about rubbing because i never would of ran over that 3" curb at 7mph at full lock anyway. all highway here.

I wouldn't put too much cred into the M+S rating. You can buy performance street tires that have that rating on the side. That being said the All Terrrain TA has been a great all terrain tire and the new one is just a little bit better. There's a reason they haven't changed it much over the years. I may get rid of my rugged terrains for these in the spring. I have winter and trail tires so these would fill in between nicely.

I understand that they are not a snow tire, but it matters for those in California for one reason:

In the winter, Caltrans sometimes places restrictions the higher elevations get snow and there may be restrictions on vehicles with regards to tire chains (or cables). I am guessing because so many dumb drivers going from sea level to Tahoe every weekend can't drive in any weather conditions. There are 3 levels of restrictions enforced by Caltrans:
    • R1: Chains or snow tread tires required. Snow tires must have a tread depth of 6/32" with a "M & S" imprint on the tire's sidewall.
    • R2: Chains required on all vehicles except four-wheel drives or all-wheel drives with snow tread tires on all four wheels.
    • R3: Chains required - ALL VEHICLES- no exceptions
Also, note "R-1 and R-2 are the most common chain controls. The highway will often be closed before an R-3 control is imposed.", so in reality, if the roads are open but have restrictions, the KO2's allow me (since I have 4x4) to not have to put on chains.

Nice pics, ordering my set tomorrow looking forward to getting them om. My Duratracs are down to about 35%, going to pull them off as leaving Thanksgiving week for off road from Nevada to Baker California. Plus I drive all winter long to Soda Springs, so like fresh tires. Will sell or hand off my old tires as I also have the original oem tires with only 5k on them. Spent lots of years living in Nevada, Lake Tahoe, and Oregon, so like the new rubber. I have been running 265/75 and will continue without problems.

I would like to get new wheels to move the tires out about 1/2 - 1 " as there is only a finger width of inside clearance but not sure what to get. They have to be for off road, and carry weight of my boat and gear.

    Suggestions appreciated.

I've been driving on the older style ones for around 30k miles, so Ill give my opinion on here, because it seems fitting. Like many posts before mine, I agree that the new ones are way to similar to the previous A/T. Where is the new technology? The KOs are an all around good tire for the average driver. It does have some serious downfalls though. The way the elements on the tire are designed, it tends to hold snow/mud/dirt extremely well consequently giving u less traction. I have a ton of experience driving with these tires in the snow, and they are ok. Not the best but ok. I live in NW Indiana and last year the roads were closed due to almost 2ft of snow in 2 days. I was one of the few that ignored the mandated closure of roads and romped around town. Like I mentioned before these tires get decent traction as long as you get out and unpack the snow/mud from them every once in awhile, it sounds stupid but I am serious. I made a couple trips to the only gas station that was open in town for emergency personal to fill up some extra gas, and ended up pulling a state cop in a suburban out of a drift. Struggled to get traction on a wet surface (their was no ice) I was pulling from. threw down some cat litter and was a lot better. Would I recommend these tires to someone to put on their Tacoma to be used in winter? probably not. If you live out west and see little to no snow or mud it would probably suit you better. They are extremely soft tires for an AT. In sand or anything that is hard packed they handle very well. When braking hard, abs kicking in, mine tended to "hop" like they were fighting for traction on a perfectly dry street surface. weather that was my driving or the tires I don't know, first time I have ever had that happen in a truck. Overall though I would limit this tire to dry hard packed conditions. A True more desert sand style tire. In my opinion these are one of the louder A/T when street driven. Hope this helps anyone whose on the line of buying towards the 4 seasons part of the US. I think I will give a different tire a try next go around. Please please please take this with a grain of salt, as every tire suits someone's needs completely differently. I'm sure their are reviews out their that love these tires but to me an A/T should be able to siphon/drain to a better extent and should not be fighting for traction as much as I am on a dusting of snow. Best of Luck

Looking forward to your thoughts, Jim. I know a lot of people are searching for side by side comparisons between the KO2 and DuraTrac.

As far as wheels go, take a look at the new Level 8 Pro line. We have the 16x8.5 Tracker Pro and Bully Pro in stock  Zinc plated lug hardware, hub centric rings, and a Level 8 deflator gauge are included with the purchase of four(4) Level 8 Pro wheels.

    Details: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/wheels-tires/323086-level-8-pro-wheels.html

Thank you for sharing your experience with the original TA KO. Although the new TA KO2 doesn't look all that different from the outside, BFG has made some pretty major changes to the tire's carcass, belt packages and tread compound. Its really an entirely new tire that held on to some of the KO's classic look.

Here's a side by side shot of the KO and KO2 in the LT285/70R-17 size. The KO2's side bitter lugs, serrated shoulder, and 3-D locking sipes improve mobility in winter conditions, soft soil and mud.

Its such a good looking tire!!!! I'm just undecided on if I want to give a tire with such a similar tread another go in the winter. Guess it will be a waiting game and see how other people feel about them after this winter. Thanks for posting that side x side of both. Very cool! Until then im stuck with the originals again for this winter, but hey that's half the fun!
