Nice! I was just wondering what ko2's would look like on our wheels. Anymore closeups?

    I still wish they'd offer a 265/70/16 in LR C.

If you do a lot of stop and go they can have a large effect. Takes more energy to get the vehicle moving.

In reality a lighter ply rating (they aren't actually 10 ply, just 10 ply equivalent, iirc they are really 3 ply,) would suit 80+% of people on the forum. The ply rating just means it has more load carrying capacity, which may lead to thicker carcass however doesn't always mean a thicker sidewall.

Yep but am I understanding that if you want ko2 in 285, there's no other choice?

Any deals going on for 265/70/17? Getting some put on this afternoon but wanted to see if there were any deals I could bring in to price match. Checked 4wd.com and they're the same price as Discount Tire.

The fact of the matter is that you'd need to load the truck with enough weight to bend the frame before a Load Range-E tire is stressed... Load Range C is overkill for these trucks even.

Remember, it's unsprung weight so it does make some difference. I had Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx LT285/70R17 (E) on my Taco for the last 6 months and I could definitely feel it. Awesome tires, but they were just too heavy and stiff for my liking. They weighed 60 pounds each and the tire is super tough with beefy sidewalls as well. Just like you said, it was overkill for me. I noticed the weight in acceleration and braking, but it wasn't horrible to be honest. The steering also felt heavier. The thing I guess I didn't like the most was the stiffness of the carcass over expansion joints in the highway. I live down a highway that has expansion joints every 15 yards or so and it drove me crazy. It was a pretty hard "thud" on every joint in the road.

I replaced the Coopers last week with BFG KO2 LT265/70R17 (C) that weigh only 45.5 pounds each and I could immediately tell the difference. They may not look quite as cool, but that doesn't matter to me as much as the function of the tires. I haven't gone through an entire tank of gas yet, but I am getting better gas mileage for sure...maybe 1-2 mpg better but I can't be sure yet. I'll try and update the thread when I get some more solid results. Now it's time to sell the Coopers that are only 6 months old with 7000 miles...yippee!!

Just got them on last night! Love the look. 265/70/17 on stock TRD sport rims. Removed the air dam afterwards.

I have 28,320 miles on my set of 265/75R16 KO2s on my 2003 DCSB. I have noticed a SIGNIFICANT drop in mileage during the time I have had them. My best few tanks of gas, my parents visited from the East Coast and drove 99% freeway with the crappy, almost bald P rated OEM tires on my truck that came on it when I bought it: 30.483 MPG. WITH THE V6.

The average MPG over the entire time I have owned the truck (30,498 miles) is 15.261 MPG.
Based off of reality, taking in the -3.3% revolutions per mile difference going from OEM (265/70R16) to BFG 265/75R16), the gas mileage is 16.026 MPG.

When these wear out, or I get an excess of money, I'll be searching for a set of All-Terrain tires that are load range C and don't weigh 53.6 lbs (according to BFG). I'll probably end up with a Cooper Discoverer A/T3 in the same size (46 lbs per tire) unless I can find a Load range C pizza cutter 235/85R16.

Is there a site where it shows certain tire sizes weights? I'd love to compare what tires I'm looking at getting

I don't know of any. I go to the manufacturers website and then find the spec sheet for the specific tire and it usually shows it in there.
For example the KO2 specs are here.

Well, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a set of KO2's. I'm not big into mods or lifts, so I decided to stay with 265/65/17 for the size. While I'm aware I could have gone up a size, my hope is the E rated won't have as much of an impact on fuel economy. I also live in Canada's freezer (Winnipeg) so bigger tires in the winter isn't always better... for our winters anyhow. I'm sitting in the waiting area as I type. Wish me luck.
