OP, if you want the absolute longest life out of your truck, have your mechanic (or you order from Amazon) genuine Toyota oils and lubricants. BG is good for higher mileage engines and yes it has a helluva markup so mechanics get a tidy profit using them.
At 50K your truck is just getting broken in. Unless you only go a few miles a year you won't need that for awhile.
I am in the process of finding a good mechanic where I now live so will be in the same boat as you soon. I will study the Toyota recommendations and advise my mechanic what I want done as far as flushes and such. Good luck and don't be a dick.

Just so you know, the BG stuff mentioned is recommended by Toyota.... based on mileage. Good luck finding a good mechanic.

I have a Mustang GT and a lot of us, including me, use BG products in the manual tranny and rear end. My manual was notchy, the BG may have made it a little better. They are expensive, but supposedly worth it. I dont race or track the Mustang, but dont have a problem spending money for quality. I think a lot of corvette owners use it too. But I would never put it in my truck, I dont think its necessary, its not pushed as hard as a Mustang could be.
