So I have some time off to do the BHLM and I took everything off the back (light, rubber parts, etc). But there is that rubber weather stripping on the front top of the headlight about a foot long. Does that need to come off first before I put them in the oven?

I would take it off if you can. Heat could warp the rubber. You read enough stories about the weather stripping on the grill whistling, why not just take this one off too, it's not hard. Remember to mark their position with a pen. Any thing worth doing is worth doing right.

No that strip on top doesn't need to come off. I've done multiple sets with it on that turned out just fine.

As most have stated already, leave it one. I've done at least 10 sets and never took it off once. It'll be fine.

Yup... Leave it on. That will be the least of your worries doing that mod. Once you get the lens off (admittedly the hardest part) the rest is cake.
