I saw this black chrome made by duplicolor the other day and was wondering if anyone has tryed this yet? Kinda want something close to OEM 09 Head lights.
The Black is tooo black for me. I like the smoked look better.

    Thanks!

should be interesting to see responses. I am looking into different color ideas for this mod myself. i am looking into the Galaxy Grey color and the MBC03FF Black Diamond (Fine) color. I hope they have it available in small qty

I've seen some color matched BHLMs. Those look pretty cool! There's a few guys on here that did it in Speedway blue...I wonder what silver would look like :notsure:

I used this before on headlight housing. Wasn't for a Tacoma, but from what I remember, it's a little darker than the smoke housing on my 2010 Taco headlights, but still looks great. I'll be using this again when I do my retrofit on an extra set of headlights in 2 weeks.

I prefer the black chrome over straight black because it makes the headlight look much cleaner and more OEM. The plain black paint makes the headlights look like cheap aftermarket headlights.

    ^^^ I agree..
I would love to see it when your done.
And are you talking about the DupliColor Shadow Black chrome paint?

And Also If I do a lighter coat on it, would it be lighter? not as dark black?
    Thanks for the reply!

Wouldn't Niteshades do the same thing since your putting over an existing chrome coating?

Niteshade does not lay very smooth and is very hard to get an even shade and have it still be transparent enough to show a blackchrome finish. You have to lay a few layers of Niteshade to get a nice even shade. By the time you get an even shade, you'd have a black finish and not a smoked finish.

In order to get a nice thin layer of Niteshade to get the smoked look, you'd have to spray a few layers, let it dry and wet sand it to a thin and smooth finish.
