Tired of lifting heavy bikes over the tailgate onto the tailgate pad, Had a hitch mount seemed the bikes may fall off that!!! What you got?

I do have a tri fold cover that doesn’t fold all the way up. The bike would be on folded down tailgate.

I keep mine up on the bed bars, still leaves the bed open to haul stuff at the same time.

    I have the same inclination...

But, since I bought a bike rack hitch, they slide on sideways on their frame with bike locks, tied down.

The bar is angled downward...so the bikes rest on one another.

I've never had issues with wobble...and if they did, I didn't hear it.

You better upgrade the leaf packs first for the added weight.

One Up or Kuat hitch racks. I'm unsure how they "fall off" a hitch rack: you're doing something wrong.
