There is also no bike lane and they are narrow 2 lane roads, so if there is a cyclist and there are other cars coming the other way everyone has to wait until there is a break because one clown feels his needs of an uninterrupted work out are more important then everyone else on the road. Whereas the trail is at least 8ft wide with plenty of room to dodge pedestrians. There are also like I said dedicated bicycle trails that are just a couple miles away that I ride on if I want to ride uninterrupted.

I'm a cyclist and I can give you a few reasons for riders doing what they are doing. First of all I live in a town that is made for cycling. Trails are everywhere and there are clear wide bike lanes. However, the street sweepers DO NOT clean these lanes and therefore are loaded with sharp metal objects and rocks. If you are on a bike that has 23x700c tires and tubes then you know what I'm talking about. So instead getting 2 flats a weeks at a cost of $4 each, I ride on the white line when I can. Drivers here understand and no one complains.
also, as far as the lights go. If there are cars in my side of the street I will wait at the light with them and cross the street with them, it's the law after all. Then again when there is no one on my side of the street then the stupid lights will NEVER change because even though there are sensors on the street that picks up you are there waiting I guess 200 pounds plus a 20 pound bike just isn't enough to set it off.
It's just as frustrating to bike as it is to drive around them, but until a better solution is in place or it becomes more common both parties need to grow up and understand each other while sharing the road.
I'm scared shitless at times when out there cause any retard can get a drivers license and when I'm driving I'm scared shitless because any homeless person can steal a bike and ride it into traffic....LOL

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
I used to road ride quite a bit...in the farmlands there were always rednecks trying to intimidate you....see how close they could come with their mirrors and their lifted redneck truck.
I guess they don't know concealed carry laws apply to bicyclists, too.

Won't catch my cyclist ass shaving nothin but face :D ......and not even that often enough. Caveman cyclist. Really how much can that help aerodynamics? Just take a big hit of cytomax and shave time of your ride while keeping the man card.

There is no reason to intimidate someone on a bike.it is bullshit when bikes are all over the road and in the way

It gets worse-some hardcore riders wear nylon stockings. No, really. I suppose they would say that it helps with aerodynamics, but:eek:

I'm a long time cyclist, so my opinion is as biased as most on here.:D

The vehicle code in Ohio states that the rider should take the lane when
    1) there is not enough room for other vehicles to safely overtake the rider
    2) within 100 ft of a stop sign (cars may not pass a bike within 100 ft of stop sign
    3) when traveling within the stated speed limit

So, if you're one of the complainers citing "they always do this.." ask yourself, maybe there is a reason?

As far as stop signs go for bikes, I prefer the Iowa vehicle code, if there is not opposing traffic at the stop sign the cyclist may treat it as a Yield sign. That law has been on the books for 27 years and they have one of the lowest bike accident stats in the nation. Why?

    1) Because the bicycle is inherently less stable when going slow or coming to a stop
    2) Drivers and cyclist know that the cyclist may treat the stop sign as yield sign so no one is confused as to what the cyclist behavior will be when they approach the stop.

Share the Road, people, paved roads in the USA were created by cyclists for cyclist, check your history.

Another tidbit, Madison Square Gardens was originally built for bicycle races!
