Bro i think its like 8 gauge or something, maybe 4. Doesnt look to big, but i think that most people upgrade the big 3 to 0 gauge wire.

I would think that the frame is the best ground you would get.

My 1st gen is 8 ga

I just raided KnoKonceptz for a bunch of parts to change all the factory stuff to Kolossus Flecks tinned OFC 4 ga (good for 150A). Gonna rewire the whole truck with it.

I should probably do 2 runs of zero from alt to amp then if im pulling 400 amps alone on bass amps and match the grounds

Not sure about the math on that one, but Kolossus Fleks 4/0 is good for 600A+.

Yeah the "8/0" is just crazy.
Personally, theres allot more to it when creating a system that is over 500A draw let alone going into voltage drop due to not enough wire. It will start with the Alt, Not all alts are made the same. There is only 2 alternators id put my name next to, or even recommend to anyone. These are the alternators that take Abuse. WE abuse the living CR@P out alternators in my industry, getting them super super hot for prolonged periods running at max capacity. Once you have that sorted, its a matter of deciding WEIGHT and reserve capacity/ Discharge rate vs up front investment for reserve and big discharge rate. Then one looks at wiring. WE run out + and _ runs right from the front. Thus big3, aint really a big deal. Ideally we just do it anyways as it doesnt hurt and we always have left over wire. I got a crap load left over laying around. Now that you have that sorted, you should be able to maintain your voltage relative good even on those long songs, or all day demo's.

Im not gonna go into details here specially on what and how we set any deeper as i don't wanna get into a debate as i know SOME ONE is gonna try and twist and disagree....

nothing wrong with that, as long as that wire you got was actual certified welding cable and not " welding cable " thats OFC that has less than 20% copper lol

I'm sure that will do the trick. Most Welding cable looks small compared to car audio cable. Car audio cable has way more strands, i.e 5400 strands on some one the better ones. More strands, more surface area.
