    Hi John,

Thanks for the info. I couldn't find a dealer locally (I live in Regina.) I did see the Canadian Tire in Weyburn seems to be a dealer but that's the only thing coming up for me. What dealer did you see? I'd be willing to buy a DIY kit and do it in my garage.

Travis, I went in and checked and it seems like the CDN Tire in Weyburn. But they are shown as a blue balloon and I think they may sell it but not apply as a dealer..?

Good luck. I don't think they sell "kits" per say, but they will have the spray cans. Trouble with that is you don't get the WHOLE truck inside AND out like the certified applier. The applier has long wands that go into doors, etc. They may drill a hole or 2, but it's good. they plug the holes. This shit also "moves" it goes into spot welds etc. and pushed out the water. My truck right now has signs of it coming up the outside of the doors/tailgate, etc. Let them do the first application and go from there as you wish.

    My opinion.

    Hope I helped some.

    Thanks for the info.

I was able to find the aerosol cans at my local Canadian Tire and they're reasonably priced. It will definitely help a little. I can also buy a DIY kit from the site.

Maybe I'll just have to open up my own shop and become a certified installer. :canada:

So rust around the frame like this we should hit with some rust converter/encapsulator:

whereas surface rust on exposed steel can be left alone?

    Canada Eh!
Cosmoline undercoating is waaaay nicer to work on than any fluid film or other “oily” coating. I can brush up against parts that have been cosmolined and it doesn’t transfer a sticky, dirty mess onto my arm. Sure if you’re handling “dried” cosmoline long enough, it will transfer a bit as it warms up.

If I need to get down to bare metal I just use a small scraper followed by a wipe down with a rag and a touch of gasoline.

Fluid Film is THE trick. My 2015 Taco lives outside in New England 24/7. They salt the roads like it's going out of style around here. I nuked the underside of the truck with FF when it was brand new, and hit it again a year later. Since then it has developed a layer of FF grime on everything, which is good because it effectively seals off all the surfaces.

The only downside to Fluid Film is that it makes for an unpleasant wrenching experience if/when you're under the truck doing maintenance or mods or what not. It gets all over you if you're not careful. But that is a small price to pay for not having any rust!

Wow, my original '96 Tacoma frame looks MUCH BETTER than that '16.
