Is it true that no lights on vehicles can be on and present while driving besides your original manufactured operating lights(head,brake, and turn signals) even if it's not of the colors red, blue, or green? The Reason I'm asking is because I have an LED whip light(a pole with LEDs) mounted in the bed of my truck, I just got pulled over, and the police officer stated that "no lights other then your normal operating lights should be on while driving, and it doesn't matter on which color, no lights should be on at all" is this true? because the answers given above pertains to just blue, red, and green, are other colors legal? I had yellow on at the time of the initial pull-over

Honestly I have no idea. The laws in our state are so unclear. But I would maybe look up the violation number on your ticket. They usually have a number on the ticket and then you can look it up and get the correct answer. I got pulled over for my cell phone not knowing that I couldn't even hold it in my hand and I didn't know that instead of a $97 ticket it was a court date. I was pissed.

 

Mahaloz bro, ah at least now we know, had to take one for the team so no one else gets pulled for having their lights on lol! Yeah Hawaii has some stupid fuckin laws, I envy guys in the mainland

 

see if I have em by then. the person i sold em to, i was riding with the other night and his lower bj broke and we almost flipped the truck. his trucks all hammered and need one rim, if not I might just have 5 good rims. gonna see the outcome when it gets looked at cause we smashed the truck and dragged the lca a good distance.


edit-hah…unless we know the same person and might get the same other 2 "cherreh" rims, but I might just get the whole truck.

 

hah..I came on tw to look to see if my bilstein 5100s/ome springs could somehow fit a revtek spacer on top with an aftermarket spindle. then I end up looking up the hrs for aftermarket lights.

I swear there was something revised in the hawaii revised statues concerning motor vehicles about running lights that arent aftermarket and not inside the vehicle. Besides the colors being illegal mentioned above, I know white or orange rear facing is illegal, orange flashing on top is only for commercial vehicles. Anything non dot approved is not supposed to pass for safety check. If it is dot approved, you can add side markers/lights and fogs, taillights can be exchanged for dot approved, but wait…..

coming from someone who gets annoyed by people who run fogs on during day or to show off and people with too much lights or lighted accessories, just run em every now and then. I dont know where to begin on how distracting something like that may be following it for an extended period of time but to each their own and id just make a bigger stink about it if I got a ticket. I cant find the hrs on it, but im sure its there. Im just the type of guy who doesnt like the added on line of fires for brake lights, those famous lighted running boards from the 80s/90s, and semis decked out like the dept of water supply trucks down at honolulu hale during christmas season. I do fully support rear facing fog/spot lights for other idiots. I definitely would support using the lighted whip while towing or backing up. I would use it on a large boat/trailer to know the boundaries/keep a tab. Its cool to stand out, but dont want no granny who can barely see during sunset, mistaking it for something else or who cant see the green/yellow/red light at the intersection infront of you.


Kinda reminds me of some of how the flags are mounted. i get some not so smart friends who like mount em where the flag blocks the taillights. I dont care if it blocks the license plate…im the kind of guy who will drive cross island without them…but in a way it'd be safer that people behind you know when youre braking.


if you get ticketed with the lighted whip on, post the hrs number. dont forget to get the cops name and address. if he doesnt wanna give up the address, post up his name.

 

Wow that sucks! I'm glad that everyone's ok, I heard of lbj' going out on highways n instantly flipping the truck. The sequoia's that I'm looking at is coming off a sequoia that had been totaled w/front end damage, one rim is demolished n the other front is in bad shape but the rear ones are in pristine shape

Yeah it could be a major distraction, especially at night, but the whole purpose of me making it was to run it, kinda sucks. pretty much thinking of not running it while driving, but if I do get pulled for the whip I'll be sure to get the hrs number, the cops name n address

 

Brake lights irritate me. Lol especially when they're going under the speed limit. Cops should really be looking out for the people who don't use the right lane when there's 2 lanes. There's a sign that says slow traffic keep right but there's always that one rebel who thinks they're flying it so they stay in the left lane. Now that's one law id like to see enforced.

 

Yup see it all the time, frustrating as fuck! They enforce what they feel like I guess or whatever stands out like a lighted led whip for instance lol
