I've already dealt with those pains when ordering other things off of Amazon. Delivery is pain and never on time in Hawaii so yeah.. I can only imagine how much harder it is to deal with taco parts.

Currently visiting from Minnesota and I have a question. 10 days into a 2 week stay on the big island

We have noticed about 7 vehicles on the side of the road. Some parked some look like accidents. They look to have been abandoned and striped of tires batteries etc.

In Minnesota the owner is responsible for removal. Is it ok to just leave a vehicle in Hawaii?

my friend bought and built the cream custom cab top to bottom, a/c and all…..then malachi "kai" prince bought it for $8k and a few days later everything was all fkd up. Ive passed that thing for almost 7 months in that same spot(ok, it was moved maybe 5 ft?)…. not sure whats up with it now but google the name if youre against drugging and raping girls.

Damn. Sounds like that truck should be liberated. I had a feeling it wasn't being used with the random spare in the bed and other things stacked underneath it.

Its not ok to just abandon a vehicle in Hawaii.

our government likes to collect taxes and make new laws that they say is better for the environment, better for people…yet they do away with recycling programs or say they dont have funding for it. Our registration that we pay for our vehicle is supposed to fund the removal of those vehicles but the county and state thinks its funny to just leave it and splurge money else where. they just brought back a program where one registered vehicle per owner could be scrapped for free at the scrap metal yard, but theres a limited amount of slots, it needs t be registered under you, and you need to haul it there…usually its 2-400 to scrap a vehicle and youre allowed one battery and 5 tires per vehicle.

It is the owners responsibilty to remove and dispose of the ones along the roadway but most of the wrecks and abandoned cars just sit there until theyre are skeletons, graphitti'd and then eventually hauled off with our tax money. Some times the owners are fined but other times theres nothing to identify the vehicle. At one point there was 8 wrecks sitting on the top highway between waimea and kona and it took spray painting dicks to get them to remove it. Theres currently 2 wrecks with yellow tape between waimea and kona. Go out south between kona and ocean view and theres over 5 of em that are abandoned wrecks, not including the ones just left abandoned.

yeah I seen the truck when he got it and the different stages it has gone thru…from bringing in a 4wd bed, reupholstered and correct interior, everything was redone and was a keeper. The person who built it did an awesome job and it was show quality. he had a lot invested but it was time for a new 4dr and he bought a tundra so had to sell that.

It was ticketed and abandoned infront midas after it broke then eventually hauled to that spot. It was for sale for $5k but it hasnt moved for 7 months. the safety is expired and its still under my friends name, just hope it doesnt get more tickets.

My two weeks is over. Been a good trip the people are great it feels like the small town I grew up in. Food was good especially the BBQ. I liked volcano national park and my wife liked the beaches. But it is too flipping hot here. I am tired of sweating.
Need to get back to MN and the snowstorm in The forecast

Howzit everyone I live on big island and am looking for someone knowledgeable to help me put after market parts on my truck. I’m not really satisfied with any of the shops in Hilo unless someone wants to point some out? I have a 3rd gen Tacoma I live kalapana side. I want to add weight capacity to my truck bed with a bit of lift.. ordering a go fast camper and going to be loading my truck up to camp for days on end.

    Mahalo!!

How does shipping work for the GFC? They have a year wait time right now dont they? I can help with the install but I live in Kona.

I was going to arrange shipping through a local company and a local company in montana.. I didn’t know they have a year wait time.. that would explain why it’s so hard to get ahold of them. Straight up over marketed there product without
Having ample stock and lead times?

Crazy! Maybe I will have to just go with another roof top tent and camper system. My main reason for wanting a GFC is that you can access the cab without going out side. ( so I can check on my dog) definitely not going to wait a year though! I’ll follow you good to know someone on island!

I haven’t tried this yet but here’s a good thread on 2nd gen tweeters..You have to take out the stock ones if you want to use the same space.. otherwise I’m sure there’s a thread about wiring them in plug and play. It would be good to check the ones you have in there and see if they just plug in.

I would go with Pasha, they ship out of Oakland, the vehicles are also protected from the weather. Used them twice no problems...

That's at least 2 TW members suggesting Pasha. I appreciate the help bruh. It's difficult dealing with all the brokers out there quoting different prices, etc. and then not knowing what's legit or not?

    2011 DC Tacoma
    Hi guys,

I was wondering if you could maybe give me advise on what I should do, or point me in the right direction. Firstly, I have a 2011 DC Tacoma that I have recently lifted. It has bilstein 5100’s with 887 OME springs up in the front, along with jba UCA’s. In the rear are extended 5100’s paired with the Dakar leaf pack from OME. I have recently received SCS 17x9” f5 wheels (-38 offset with 3.5 bs). These wheels are mounted on a 295/70r17 tires. In hindsight, I probably should have went with a lesser offset to better accommodate these tires or just went with a smaller tire.

With this whole setup, I have ran into a bunch of rubbing on the fenders, pinch weld, and the cab mount. I am aware that I will have to hack away at all these things, but being a novice in the whole truck scene, I am not comfortable tackling this issue by myself. I was wondering if you could recommend me to someone that could possibly help with my issue. Thank you. (Btw I am located on the Big Island in Waimea).
