As long as they print 1:1 you'll be fine. I would mount the template on a piece of cardboard.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one that wants to upgrade the brakes. I did a full Wilwood swap including master cylinder and adjustable proportioning valve on my 72 Chevy C10. Just wish they made a kit for the rear brakes on the 3rd gen Tacoma. I might look into making my own bracket and buying all the parts individually to build my own rear disc brake setup.

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
See S.O.S Performance for the rear conversion kit (drum to disc).

I did my due diligence already and checked them out. It would cost me $2500ish for the rear brake setup from SOS not to mention the cost of doing the front brakes. I have no personal experience with their product but do have some with wilwood and have great confidence in the product they make and the service behind it. can't tell you how many times having the big brakes on my C10 saved my but. No matter what the cost the final decision will always be personal preference. I have a lot of other mods I want to do before I do the brakes. For now its just an item I want to do but do not need.

I'm not sure where you're getting $2500 from. I did my conversion and the master cylinder for around $1200. The only thing you're purchasing for the conversion that isn't Toyota OEM is the backing plate and master cylinder adapter. They're simple pieces.

The $2500 comes from getting the backing plate and then the added cost of the rear brake kit. I understand that there are cheaper options on SOS's page. But if im gonna compare Big Brake kits then its gonna be to the same level of kit from each company. here are some of the links and prices. Wilwood can be purchase for cheaper through summit as I have seen before when I did my kit on my 72 C10 and in this instance with the tacoma.

    Wilwood (6 Piston)- $1853

I've owned both Wilwood and Stoptech BBKs in the past, and install a lot of them at work. Just a heads up to those who don't know, and some may not care. Wilwood does not use any sort of dust boot for their pistons. Fine for track, but not so great for offroad or daily driving, unless you dont mind replacing the orings and pistons at a more frequent interval. Stoptech does have dust boots protecting the piston body.

Great info! For those of you interested, I have been running my Stoptech front BBK and 4runner rear disc conversion w/ Sequoia MC for about a year and a half now and everything is great. Even wear all around, great stopping power still, and plenty of pad material left.

When I was doing mine, SOS' price and Rock Auto were similar in price.

I've been running my rear conversion for a while as well. It's been off-roading a few times and the rest is rush hour usage. I love it. No issues. Everything works as it should.

I do not believe so, but I would contact Tom @ SOS performance first, he can point you in the right direction.

If your reservoir has a two wire plug you’re good, if you have a four wire plug you’re going to lose functionality.

Just pulled the trigger on the 14" Wilwood kit 140-14578-R I ordered from Battle Born Offroad (great price..).

I am doing this because after moving to 315's my breaking has become less than ideal and I have had some break fade that I thought was very much premature even on slow trails... I do have a fully armored rig and run very close to GVWR all the time..I have sold the camper shell and moved all camping related crap to a m101 trailer I am building to take as much weight off the truck as I can before moving in this direction.. Big ass trailer but well with in the towing range of the little taco.

This was a $$$ upgrade and looking at it now I should have done this long ago. Sure I have some bumpers that can take a hit on the trail and the truck is a blast but it really needs to stop/slow down when I want it too...

According to the template I need 15.84 inches inner wheel. I took a paint stick and cut it to 16" and it fits with about 1/4 inch in my method 701 17" wheels. I may need to adjust wheel weights but my local tire shop said no big deal on that and its free..

I called Wilwood about the 18" requirement and they told me that they may fit in 17" but 18" is always a go. We shall see when they come in.

I will try to get a distance to stop with the stock breaks vs the Wilwoods. I am not going to give total stopping distance just the Delta..
Wilwood is out of stock right now so it will be a couple of weeks. I will update prob in Aug some time.

Good deal. Be sure and torque the rotor to hat bolts. I don't know what pads the kit comes with, but they may be overkill (and very dirty). Wilwood does make a cleaner, ceramic-based pad that you might want to think about. The pad works very well; even at light track use.

looks like wilwood recently released a new "offroad" caliper. Maybe they'll add a option for those in the front brake kits they already offer for our trucks.

I think they ship with the bp-10 pads. I would need to call them about a cleaner pad if this one is a dusty MoFo..

I can't remember what pad is what. I think the cleaner ones were HQ or something.
