    Hi guys
in 20 with a limited knowledge of trucks but i am teaching myself, but there is an issue with my truck i cant figure out and i cant find answers online.. this issue is complicated
... so i own a 99 Tacoma with 350xxx kilometers on it and this issue started about a month ago. My truck will only go a certain distance (about 40-60 kilometers) before it will basically stop accelerating and the engine will start to sputter and struggle. When it does this i will find a place to pull over and ill shut off the truck, and turn it back on. when i turn it over the first few times it will idle and rumble and sputter but wont accelerate, and it sputter more violently when i press the gas.. when i shut it off and turn it over a few more times it will try and turn over, but will shut down almost immediately, and i will sometimes hear metal on metal below the truck. Now here is the weird part, the longer i let it sit the better it will go, if i let it sit for 4ish hours it will go about 3-6 kilometers before the whole process starts again, and if i let it sit over night i can go the whole 40-60 kilometers again.. it seems like it needs to recover from something... (it is not overheating)

so what i tried to do to fix this was clean the MAF sensor which did nothing and i bought a brand new battery and that also did not help...

the next thing i was going to try and replace is the fuel filter
so what do i do know, i really need the help please

sorry for the long complex message
    thanks for reading it

This^ Fuel filter, fuel cap, fuel lines, if you can when it does it check the fuel relays see if they are hot might be a fuel pump going bad they usually get hot because of the amperage draw.

When you take gas cap off does it hiss from pressure? If not replace gas cap.
