a lot of dealers have mobile bumper touchup & paintless dent guys come to their lot once or twice a month to touch up this exact thing on the used inventory. it's usually not too expensive - especially if you can get their number and do it off the lot so the dealer doesn't mark it up.

The proper repair is to repaint the piece. If you go that route, make sure you do the whole piece. Blending will look great for a while, but eventually the new clearcoat will peel where it meets the old.

Same thing happened to me. Tried to paint over. Still an eyesore. I like the black bumper look when I installed the covers. Colored it satin black. These bumper covers will protect more minor parking hit and runs in the future. Or upgrade to steel. Got these from tacomabeast.

Thanks for all the input guys. That's one of the reasons why I love this forum, everyone is helpful. I'm looking to keep the same paint color code route. I'm not sure what wet sanding is. Would it be ok just to buy the little paint color code bottle and just paint right over it? Sorry, I'm a noob at this stuff

Don't use them. Take it to a body shop and have them do it correctly. Remove the cover, fix the scrape, blend in some base coat and clear it. SholSh be about $300. Again do it right the first time
    And be happy.

ditto, you can go to a paint store (my napa auto parts place does this (PPG)) and have them mix you up an aerosol of factory matched paint. costs like $30 a can... they can also make you a touch up vial.. adn get some gloss clearcoat..

Wait. It’s really not that much and it’s a truck. I could see a cracked bumper, but that is pretty small in all honestly. If you get in a little fender bender, it’ll get fixed. I suggested this to my girlfriend when her mom closed the garage door on her Lexus. Wouldn’t you know, four months later, someone rear ends her and their insurance covered it
