I would like to, but it depends on what day is chosen and what fresh hell is happening at work.

I took Thursday and Friday off, so I can head up whenever and plan to do the challenge on Saturday. Sounds like a table for 15 would hold everyone that is coming up (I believe they will likely split us in to 2 or 3 tables for COVID requirements), then we just need one hour to get the 3 challengers up to the big table.

I am planning to head out Wednesday night after work. If I can get to ~middle of PA that night, I should be on good time to get there for Saturday AM.

    upload_2021-2-11_11-37-38.jpg

This is my original plan - I forgot I need to reroute this through TN instead of up and around. Hell of a drive but other than TN that is stuff I've been through before so I won't be tempted to stop and explore. I was generous in the times to add times for stopping with doggo and lunches etc. Hammer down and get to TX. And then after TX the rest of the legs are more relaxed

This also gets me there the night before so I have some lee-way to get there the next morning. Also my whole round trip route is supposedly toll free! As long as I don't pick the wrong lanes going through ATX, the only tolls I'll have are EZ pass stuff in the northeast. After that, wide open roads!

Edit to add: This route also depends on snow. If we are getting snow then I'll geronimo south and then leg it west from there instead.

With the crazy shit that went down in Fort Worth this morning, I'm even more sensitive to folks being safe on the road. Take your time and be safe.

I'll sum it up with a post I made yesterday morning:

Full send plus Texas plus an icy bridge or five = fatalities.

Heard about that but haven't read it yet. But when almost everyone down there owns 2WD vehicles w/ summer tires, and doesn't have winter driving in their experiences, it's bound to happen.

It wasn't a 2WD or tire problem, it was a too fast for an icy patch problem.

I think the vast majority of the road was fine, leading to a false sense of security, then a long icy patch. Once the first wreck created a block, it was over.

Yup. Did someone here say it was a bridge? They don’t have ground temperature to keep them from freezing bridges freeze first.

Me, and correct. Multiple pileups that occurred starting at 9pm last night and continuing throughout the morning, almost all of them involved overpasses. Fort Worth got it the worst. There was a bad one in downtown Dallas too. Some poor guy got wrecked, got out of his car to assess the damage, and lets just say the pileup continued to happen.
