    2 questions that need polling:

    a) go/no-go on the proposed March 18th date

    b) Palo Duro SP or Lake Meredith.

I vote go for March 18, and a very flexible vote towards Meredith. I actually prefer Palo Duro, but the logistics of meeting people there is tough.

Advantages of P.D.S.P. - People will be blowing up the shitter on this trip, and I have personal experience that the ones there will take the workload. Running water, hot showers. Scenic as hell. Great hiking for that insta photo.
Disadvantages of P.D.S.P. - the park police in Texas state parks are notoriously strict. This is not an issue if you know how to be quiet and you remember to keep your drinks in unlabeled containers. 'Spensive. No matter how we cut it it will likely be 25 bucks per camper per night. Popular. If this is our site then we need to commit three months in advance, which means now-ish. There is potential to be spread to the four winds if we dont have 10 people ready to plonk money now - the first reservable campsite on the canyon floor is over 4.5 miles away from the last.

Advantages of Meredith - Free. Relatively unknown and first come first served. That can be good or bad, but its probably a good thing, and the logistics of keeping a group within shouting distance of each other are easier here.
Disadvantages - Pit poopers. Haul in your own potable water. Not sure how often its patrolled or by whom, I admittedly have no experience there.

I've camped at Lake Meredith a bunch, in fact its our go to place since PDC has gotten so crowded and expensive. Mcbride Canyon has some nice campgrounds in the very back that will fit several campers and it would be the closest to the Big Texan. As for being patrolled its not patrolled like PDC and they don't care about adult beverages.

I'm down for the 18th. I'm probably making it a shorter overall trip. Drive up there, festivities for the day, spend the night somewhere, and then head back.

I'm hoping to get a firm date so we can start planning the fundraising on here!

Sorry guys, but a few dumb questions....

So this trip is based around eating a big steak at a restaurant?(Good enough for me, just trying to be clear)

Reading about raising money? For what?

What does the 72nd day of 2021 have to do with anything?

When y’all talk about camping.....tents, campers or both?

    Is this open to anyone?

Never been to PCSP, but I want to, real bad!!!

I had proposed that, since we were making a spectacle out of the steak eating part and that there are so many TW members following the livecam thread, we could "sell" some "sponsorships" on shirts, hats, signs, etc. for when each of us stepped up to the table. I'm not talking big time company donations or anything (though it'd be sweet!), but get members to chip in $20 or something for their name on a shirt of the participant - just for the grins of seeing it in the livestream thread. My wife can make the shirts for us. I've just found that any time you get a group of people excited about something, it's usually an opportunity to get a little money raised for a worthy cause.

Cook's Children's Hospital came up as a suggestion, which I'd definitely be on board with.

Some people may choose to base their trip around steak eating. I choose to base my trip on live heckling those that choose to eat the steak. :cookiemonster:

The money is to "sponsor" those who step up to eat, do that the hecklers don't feel quite as bad about themselves.

72nd day is the mayan prophecy of the day quizocuddthal, a vengeful minor god who rules the less favorable cuts of beef, arrives on earth to beat humans into the afterlife with a set of giant bronze tongs. The only way to appease him is to make a 72 ounce display of unadulterated gluttony as an offering.

I'm bringing my pop-up camper, I guess that counts as both right?

Heck yeah, all are welcome, bring what ya got.
