Me too, mainly 'cuz every recent Ford I've owned was a PITA to work on. But if I could get back that 1973 F100 16yo me drove in high school, I'd take it in half a heart beat.

Yeah I'd say that about most my older vehicles. Ford's aren't bad, but a pain to work on. My last one was tough, but a pain to work on as well lol. After a yota, I'd probably be in another Ford. Not a fan of all the turbo stuff these days either.

    • Frame rust is still a thing
    • Transmission still sucks
    • Package and options aren’t as flexible as stated in the video
    • Tons of stupid recalls and TSB’s that are major such as the 3rd brake light leak TSB
    • TSS-P sucks and isn’t what it’s advertised to be either

Problems are minor, well backed. Still more reliable AF compared to the competition.

I mean you drive a Toyota.

    1) I never had the rust issue on my 2nd Gen. I think much of that is environment based and also influenced by how the state/locality treats their roads in Winter, i.e. salt. In Alaska they use dirt and don't have the issue. Owners can also take preventative measures. Toyota has still stood behind the product and replaced frames.

    2) I bought manual trans for that reason, so I'll give you that. But I think a lot of the "issue" is folks not understanding the technology applied in this engine and automatic transmission pairing. Once folks adapt, they are happy. Some people don't ever adapt, either because they don't want to, or they're not smart enough to, so they complain loudly and continuously.

    3) Whatever, buy the Ford.

    4) All makes have these, much of it attributable to our litigious culture. Damn lawyers.

    5) I'm a fan of Toyota Safety Sense, didn't think I would be, but I am. For me it has ALWAYS functioned exactly as my owner's manual describes.

    What else ya' got?

It’s a truck and is mass produced there is bound to be some issues with any make/model no matter how strick QC is.
But the ranger looks like a$$ to me so it’d be last on the list to test drive.
