    I like single origins.

My favorite is Yiracheffe Aricha and I've been buying it for quite a while. New one I tried that is almost as good to me is the Sidamo. I'm a big fan of the Ethiopian region beans and the natural process. I bought the Costa Rican Willows to try this time and by buying a 5th bag I got a free French press. lol

That shit Folgers puts out isn't coffee. The Bux burns the hell out of their beans and it tastes like crap also.

I drink Starbucks French Roast, but it's starting to taste like mud to me.

I think a Ethiopian yirgacheffe is my favorite bean. Usually though I prefer a natural processed bean because it’s a bit more fruity flavor. I’ve been only buying beans from a local roaster lately. Their espresso blend is great and I have it dialed in so I don’t waste any beans when I get a new bag. Like @medic2230 said single origins are nice. Going that route is probably the best to start off because you can really dial in which regions you like best. Each region has their own distinct characteristics (earthy, chocolate, floral, etc). Then you can get into washed vs natural process. A washed bean means they take it and high pressure spray it with water to remove the shells from the bean itself which yields a more distinct flavor and less fruity (blueberry is a common tasting note). A natural process is left in the sun to dry out the shell/cherry and results in a fruitier bean due to increased exposed time with the sugars of the cherry/shell.
Ha. I actually don’t have any plants. I do have seeds, I just haven’t gotten around to growing anything yet.

Starbucks is notorious for over roasting and burning their beans.

the best flavor filled coffees are a light to medium roast. Any reputable roaster will almost never roast past medium. Espresso is different though and benefits from a darker roast, however some lighter roasted espressos are fantastic too

Find a roaster in your area and stop in and try some of their different coffees and find something you like. Nothing beats fresh beans and ground right before you brew it. When we go camping is the only time I don't grind my own. Can't convince my wife I need my espresso machine while camping. lol So at those times I settle for Dunkin original with a standard coffee maker. I probably need to move my Bunn coffee maker to the camper since I haven't used it in the last year since getting the espresso machine. Nothing pisses me off in the morning more than waiting for that slow ass machine in the camper to brew a pot. Yes it has a timer on it but I always forget to set it. Haha

Dude. Get a manual grinder and a French press. You can hook up a drill to the manual grinder and make it a semi-auto. I’ll pre-dose coffee before camping. And a French press is easy enough to eyeball if you use it at home for where the water level should be.
