If car companies were smarter they would put a "check blinker fluid" light on the dash. Think of the money they could make

Don't give them any ideas. I'm surprised someone hasn't put it some LEDs and had it slow leak till they stop working.

    Ah ha!

I have figured out the heater problem!

Got the limit switch out and it had continuity so it was good.

Then checked the sail switch. After seeing the board led light up once every 3 seconds. This was after cycling the thermostat to get it to come on.

So out comes the sail switch. Which is located on the blower cage itself. What it does is check for airflow as it’s primary safety check before going to the limit switch above as a secondary check before sending power to the board. The board then controls gas flow and the ignighter. If it doesn’t pass these two checks the board doesn’t get power to allow gas to flow and the ignighter to light the gas.

You can see how it works in this video. When the fan starts it pushes the switch slightly making contact and passing the check.

I don’t have enough hands to video checking continuity on it but it has continuity on the sail switch if it’s open or closed. There’s a problem there. Should only have it when closed.

So now I’m ordering a sail switch and we’ll go from there when I comes in.

And now the sail switch is testing correctly. FFS.

ordering both safety parts and just replacing both. Got no time for this. Still thinking the sail switch because sometimes it will run for the first heat cycle then won’t run again. Believing that switch must be going out and just hasn’t killed itself yet.

Course the diagnostics label helps tremendously. Yes! It’s either a airflow or limit switch fault. Bah

Outstanding place to put the heater also. Under the fridge. The part you’re looking at goes against the outside wall. So you can’t see the led light to diagnose everything till you basically remove it.

Proof right there that every Man has limits. Machine too. Glad you got ‘er solved, Murph. That ‘Bama cold overwhelms like some sort of tide.

My bets on limit. Most often those go out. Air switch, not so much.

It’s every once in a while you’ll hear it not make contact operating it manually. You can hear it buzzing in the video. I know, air switch is simple operation. But then again you figure this stuff is pretty much going through an earthquake for hours going down the road and getting beat to death every trip.
