While I'm waiting for my rear icon shocks, I'm praying I can fit a 305/60/18s...I guess on a 9in wheel with 5 bs (fuel octanes). Hopefully with some trimming and if I must, I suppose I don't mind cutting the cab mounts.

Well I was researching tire size but I think I have found THEE guru in KPT, so I guess I will just ask instead of lurking around the forum!

I just bought a 2011 TRD Offroad Tacoma double cab. The truck is equiped with the "tx pro" model which comes with those "bead lock" black trd wheels which I believe (through research) is a 16x7.5 with 4.5bs... the truck has a 2.5 leveling kit and a 1.5aal in the rear. I am looking to get rid of the awful performing, looking and undersized rugged trails. I was thinking that I could get away with a 285/75/r16 with this current set up. Please let me know if I am off on this tire size/wheel combo. I am currently debating the duratecs or some bfg a/t if that matters? Any and all information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your time and advice!

If the TX pro wheels are 4.5" BS (which I THINK they are), you will be able to fit the 285/75/16's with some minor fender well trimming. some folks also have to chop the cab mount, which isn't as bad as it sounds.

As far as duratracs vs AT KO's, if I were to guess, the duractracs might rub a little more because they have a more aggressive sidewall tread, but I'm really not sure.

Man! You don't waste any time at all! That is exactly what I was hoping to hear. I am not a complete newb as I had an 06 tundra with donahoe coils and camburg uca's and I plan to do something similar but I literally got the truck yesterday so that is a tough one to talk to wife into at the moment. I figured since it was lifted already tho I might as well get some better looking tires while I work on that.

The Tacoma stuff is all new to me though so I am trying to absorb it all and not make avoidable mistakes. Maybe I will just go with the B/f's... they have always been a solid tire from what I hear.

Here's what I want to know:

How is it that KPT seems to know what he's talking about with tire fitment on tacos, BUT, he's only running 265/65s on his truck!?! :D

Why ain't you pushing some crazy tire fitment on your shit Mr. Know it all KPT??? Lol :D

Welcome to TW. I see that you are from Bolivia. I'm having a hard time understanding what you are asking, but if you want to put 275/65/18's on your truck you might have to do some trimming. I have 265/65/18's and do not rub at all.

Just took delivery of 2011 TRD Sport Double Cab with 265/65/17's thinking of leveling with Pro-comp 2.25 kit and putting Pro-comp 8101 17x8 rims with 4.5 backspace and 285/70/17 tires. Will I have any issues with rubbing? Any recommendations on leveling kit rim/tire set-up to look a little more aggressive than stock?

You will have to go to at least 2.5" to be able to fit those even with plastic trimming and a possible cab mount chop.

As for leveling kit recommendations, I recommend you do not get a leveling kit, or any type of spacer lift.

If not leveling kit what would you recommend in the way of lift.

If you are on a budget, you can't go wrong with bilstein 5100 series shocks.
