Biggest tires you can go without a lift?

265/70/17 Nitro Terra Grappler G2s, stock Sport suspension, NO RUB. anything bigger and you will probably need some trimming.

Tires cost more than the vehicle

 

Well, are you wanting to have wider tires or are you open to a slightly skinnier tire? If so 255/80/17's should fit fine especially since your third gens have a little more tire clearance anyway. They are a 33x10.5 I believe but if you get an agressive AT like the Stmaxx then with the beefier sidewalls and lugs they are more like 11.25" wide

 

Your stock wheels will fit 255/85r16 on stock suspension.

This is actually the correct answer if the OP was referring to tire diameter when he said "biggest."

Most of the 255/85R16 or 255/80R17 tires available sit somewhere between 32.8 and 33.0 inches in diameter.

Exhibit A
Tires are 255/85R16 Cooper ST Maxx's that measure 32.8" (on paper). No lift, no rubbing, no trimming, no power issues, and minimal MPG hit.

Came across this the other day at the Landcruiser Museum in Salt Lake City... Couldn't quite tell if it was lifted or not tho.

 

Probably just a spacer lift

 

40s no problem just cut whatever is in the way

 

This one has 44" tires, not sure if it's been lifted or not.

 

Would anybody happen to know if the 255/85r16 shown here would fit a SR model?
