Hi all, I have a new 2016 double cab TRD sport. What is the biggest tire I can put on stock suspension without making any mods?

I purchased my 2016 Tacoma SR5/ V6 4X4 from the dealer with with 285/65R18 tires- no lift. No issues with rubbing (yet). I checked the above DSC04268.jpg DSC04259.jpg DSC04263.jpg post about max tire size, so I am curious- can a 4x4 handle larger tires- seems higher off the ground than a 4x2?

Have you done any off roading with that tire setup yet? I'm hoping to cram in the biggest tire size possible in my SR5 4x4 without doing a lift but I do need it to be able to have minimal rubbing if any while doing some off roading and your tire setup looks ideal.

The 285/65R18 tires with Mayhem rims were done by the dealer- the truck came with steel rims. I was concerned these tires were too big but 4 week and no rubbing- no off-roading yet either.

Very interested to see if there is rubbing (I'm confident there will be) offroad with 285/65R18. I'd love to stuff 285/75R16's under my rig on stock wheels with no lift, but I know it's not going to happen

How about a difference between 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive- the post about max tire size did not mention 2 or 4wd- isn't the 4wd model higher already and can accommodate larger tires?

The big thing to consider with stock rims is the width (the 285 part) and the backspacing on the rims. The stock rims have a deeper backspacing to keep wheels tucked up under the fender, the TRD Pro (or most after market) wheels have less backspacing so you can put wider tires and they'll just stick out farther outside the fender. If you have too much backspacing and wide tires then you'll feel rubbing on a full turn.

If your tires are too tall (33"+) you start to run into issues with them getting stuffed, again backspacing can affect this but the lift is even more important.

Well you can do it, you'll just end up wasting money on too wide tires OR you'll be getting an excuse to get some sexy aftermarket or TRD Pro wheels.

I think I'll just end up getting the TRD beadlocks. I love those wheels. Quite possibly the sexiest wheel ever created. Ok, that was overboard, but still
