Thought I'd share this with the marvelous people of TacomaWorld. My friends like making fun of me for this shift knob but I like it.

Step 1: You wanna find the right size tubing. For most applications the sizes in the picture are common. They dont have to be perfect since the bike grip will stretch to fit the tube.

Step 2: Cut tube to length

Step 3: Go to hardware store and find correct nut that fits your shifter stick threads. Mine was a metric nut (I'm sorry, but I totally forgot the sizing).

Step 4: I got lucky and was able to start the nut and hammer it in.

After getting it started, I used a masonry stake to punch the nut about 2/3 of the way. You can decide how far to tap it in. This will decide how high or low the knob sits after being threaded onto the shift rod.

It was a perfect snug fit so I didn't have to weld it.

Step 5: In order to slip/stretch the grip over top of the tube, I used an old bmx trick and jammed the nose of the air nozzle between the grip and the tube and blew air while working it on. If my stupid directions aren't doing a justice, you can look this technique up on YouTube that's how I learned it.

    Step 6:

Now that the grip is on, it's time to put the grip on the shift rod.

If you haven't lost the bar end yet, install that. The tube's inner diameter was too large for the bar end to effectively hold itself in. I solved this problem with a healthy serving of JB Weld.

    Hope this helps,
