While I was getting ready for a 170-mile trek across various terrain, I had a piece of vital equipment fail on me. I contacted BillieBars and I can’t say enough positive things about the company! To say they were great is an understatement, as timing was critical and very short. From the initial connection until I received my package, they were absolutely fantastic to work with.

First off, if you are not familiar with BillieBars, they are a heavy-duty bar system that is compatible with the factory Tacoma Tonneau Bed Cover and others. For me this was key as my build is a little understated. I love the look of a rack with all the accessories attached to it, but for me, my truck is my daily driver and a weekend warrior. I have a lot of my gear mounted to the bed rails and I like to have the tail gate locked. This keeps my stuff out of sight and also protected from the elements. So, for me I needed a bed rail system that would work with my Tonneau Cover and be built tough enough to securely hold my rooftop tent while on and off road. Here is where BillieBars steps in with a vengeance. They shipped out a set of bars, brackets, and their 6-inch tent raisers so I could setup my annex room under the tent. They stayed in constant contact with me, and they were even tracking the package on their side to make sure my order arrived in time.

When the bars arrived, I wasn't let down. They were packaged with extreme care. The brackets were super beefy and have a gusset for the bars to rest in, creating a super sturdy platform.

The aluminum bars are anodized black and are wider than others I've seen on the market. They have the plenty of mounting options for different accessories as each bar has 6 T-slots. I usually like to test out my gear ahead of time but that wasn’t going to be the case this time around. I felt assured there wouldn’t be any issues considering the construction of the product was top notch. I grabbed some tools and headed out. The installation only took a couple of stress-free minutes and was ready to rock and roll in no time.

In the future, I'm planning to purchase their Molle Panels. These mount to the brackets and will give me the functionality of a rack while maintaining the Tonneau Cover. This way I can move some gear that's currently mounted in my bed to the Molle Panels giving me more space in the bed for those longer trips.

So, if anyone is in the market for a set of bars, check out BillieBars. The customer service you’ll receive and your purchase will not disappoint you.

Dumb question. What’s the reason why you are using the tent riser?

No problem! So, with my rooftop tent I have an annex room that attaches under it. Without the risers the tent wouldn’t be high enough in the air for the annex room door to open properly.

Do you find that it’s a pain in the ass getting into the box? I’m looking for an option where I can still Open and close the trifold with the tent in place.

It’s not terrible, it would be nice to be able to open and close the trifold but I couldn’t find an option to make that possible.

My solution was to get 2 pelican 1650 cases w wheels. They fit perfectly under the cover and pulls out super easy like a drawer system. This way you don’t loose the functionality of the bed when you don’t need them.

When the tent isn’t on it takes 2 minutes to get the bars off and on. So, loading large items isn’t an issue.
