Changed the oil a few months back and a neighbor commented as he walked past, "Hey you're leaking oil there." Checked, and it turns out thank you to PennDOT the bodies of all the shocks were starting to rot out. The drivers front was the leak. So I bought a set of 4600s from Amazon. When I started taking the old ones out, it looks like there are 2 bushings on the top of the shock sandwiching the spring hat. I only got 2, one for each shock. The old ones are fused to the shock rod, but look like they have one on each side?

The question is: should I have 2 per shock, one on either side of the hat? I have yet to find a diagram.

Your 4600 front kit for a 95 4x4 should have the following for each shock:

Then be installed with a bushing above and below the shock hat:

Called Bilstein, they wouldnt sell the bushing to that shock. Said it was a Toyota part, and I had to call a dealership. So much for customer service.

Bilstein didn't send any of the bushings with my front 4600's. Man was I pissed. I guess you have to call them to get them now?

these were under the 95-04 Tacoma section even though they say 4runner. just a basic set of replacement bushings. you may need a top nut to hold it together

I ended up calling Toyota and ordering all new "cushions" and washers. took about a week longer than it should have, but it handles like a new truck now. I actually scared myself turning left because it actually did, rather than before when it took 3 days for the truck to start turning. It's like it's on rails, comparably.

Could you post the part numbers for these "cushions" and a price you paid at the dealership please?
I am in the same situation and need these parts.

They intention is you're supposed to use your oem bushings, so you can't really expect Bilstein to send you parts that they never intended to include...

@ToxicTwin, the Wheelersoffroad link above should get you going...

I can expect them to sell bushings, absolutely. They make shock absorbers. Its absurd to think they wouldn't have bushings to sell individually, borderline unthinkable. In this case, I had to do some legwork to find out that yes that is the case, because it's not otherwise stated until you call them. It was not listed anywhere from the seller or Bilstein themselves.

I think your issue should be with whatever Amazon dealer you ordered the shocks from, not the manufacturer (Bilstein). When I ordered my 5100's form DSM, it was pretty clear what was included in the packages.

Maybe use this as a lesson for ordering truck parts from Amazon... This is why I only order parts from reputable brick and mortar stores like Wheelers, Down South Motorsports (where you get TW member discounts), Low Range Off Road, or others.

F*ck what you think my issue was. I was sharing my story, I don't need your opinion. It's worth what I paid for it.

i replaced my stock TRD shocks with 4600s a few weeks ago. Neither of the 4 shocks came with bushings or cushions. I recycled the metal pieces but replaced all of the rubber ones. You only need the cushions for front shocks, none in rear. The quote for $153 above sounds rather high; I seem to recall I paid about $60 for the replacement cushions.

Also, if you haven't installed the new shocks yet, you can do it without spring compressors...

I know this doesn't help but I ordered mine off of Amazon too. :D

Sorry, you're right; I mis-spoke. The bushings are integrated into the bottom of the rear shocks just like front shocks. But the rear shocks don't have/need cushions like the front shocks. So you only need to buy additional cushions for the front shocks (OP already knows this).
