Hey Guys - My truck is getting a frame replacement in a few weeks and I'm going to have them put new shocks front and rear. It's a 2009 Reg Cab Tacoma 4x4 with 2.7L and 5 speed.

I have original shocks with 267,000 miles on them. They have never leaked any fluid.
I occasionally do some forest service roads. 98% on-road use.

I'm using the original front coils my truck has now as I don't want to lift it.
I'm wondering if these shocks will be too firm for my little truck on the pavement.
I don't mind a more controlled ride but don't want harshness.

I've researched this and opinions seem to be all over the place.
What do you guys think about the 4600's?

    Thanks, Jim

I put the 4600’s on my truck about a year ago. Huge difference as my original shocks were wore out. They are the exact same shock as 5100’s but not for lifted trucks. I like them. They definitely stiffened up the ride. It’s a truck, I don’t want a soft Cadillac ride. I tow a boat, go off road and haul stuff. But probably 70 plus percent is pavement. For me they are perfect but they will for sure stiffen your ride. I can’t say if you’ll like them or not. Again I don’t want a whimp 4x4 that rides like a car.

Gotta say your right. If I wanted a smooth ride I'd buy a Camry!
