    Hey guys,

I have a '21 SR, and am looking to upgrade the suspension as I travel on a decent amount of backroads to elk hunt / fish. Only a 4 banger, so don't really want or see the need to get the 5100s or a lift.

When putting the 4600s on, should I pull the coil off the take-offs, or buy new? If you suggest new, what should I get?

Aren't the 4600s the stock shocks on the OR? I have those. They are fine, but I'm upgrading. If you are going to the trouble of upgrading I'd at least get 5100s. Those work with the stock coils according to what I've read so far and aren't much more than the 4600s.

They are similar to the Stock OR suspension, but definitely a little "beefier" than the stock OR.

I just don't really need the lift, or the extra money that goes with it

I highly suggest you get the front 5100's up front and raise it 1". It's virtually the same cost, but better. No brainer

You truck will be level, and will look like a small lift. Your dirt roads will thank you...

Dont waste your time with the 4600s the 5100 is well worth the money. I wish i had put the 5100s on my truck the day I bought it.

If i put the 5100s up front with a 1" lift, what coils would I need?

And what would I need for the back, the 5100 struts and what else? The AAL? But I don't really know what that is lol

Use the stock coils. While not everyone does, from what I've read the 5100s are supposed to be used with the stock coils. I think you can leave the rear alone. Many people want to level their truck so 1" up front and nothing (other than the replacement 5100s) in the rear brings it to level. Personally, I hate leveled as it just starts to sag if you add any weight. An AAL (add a leaf) would probably be enough to compensate or do nothing. I've been mostly level since I added a shell and sag when I go camping and it's okay, but as soon as I can actually find new parts I'm adding a new leaf pack and a small lift.

Use the factory coils and leave the rear alone. I put 5100s on the front on the 4th notch and left rear as it was and it's perfect IMO.

FYI stock TRD OR shocks are N O T 4600's They are SIGNIFICANTLY smaller.

4600's and 5100's have the same body and piston diameter and slightly different valving.

If you dont want a lift 4600's will be great, if you want a slight lift/adjustability 5100's are key. Using the stock coils on either will work well.

I second what everyone else is saying here, just get the 5100s. Well worth it for the tiny price over the 4600s you’ll end up paying. Plus if you want no lift, just set the clip at zero for stock height. If someday you feel like raising them up a bit for whatever reason, you already have them to do so. Hope this helps OP. Take care.

Bilstein recommends you use the stock coils. If your not planning on adding weight to your truck, don't waste your money on anything else. (steel bumpers, sliders, RTT, etc....)

I went 2" up front with my 5100's. Because I have an Off Road, I just added a 1" Rear block, no AAL, no new shocks, nothing. I'm over the moon, love it!

And what about the rear shocks? Can I also buy the 5100s & just leave them at stock height? Or should I put the 4600s in the rear.

Or should I just leave stock.

Yeah that is exactly what i did. I just put it on the 4th notch threw on my old coils and left the back alone. It will sit a little high in the front but will settle and be level with the rear.

Anyone have any input on the 5100s in the rear riding stock height?

And my OCD will be all o_O:boom::frusty::goingcrazy::pout: if you have silver fronts and yellow rears.
