So 5100s with stock coils in the front, set to the 4th clip..

5100s in the back, are just a direct replacement, no other parts needed. I just bolt it in? Is there a setting I need to set it too? Or it's just stock no matter what

From what i understand, the rear 5100s don't provide any lift at all. If you want a little lift in the back you will need to put another leaf in the leaf pack. This will make the ride a bit stiffer but it's popular with overlanders that load up their trucks with 100s of lbs.

Yeah, definitely don't want a lift in the back, just want to level the front.

Just want to make sure I completely understand this before I bolt it on my truck.

Gotcha. I am definitely not an expert. I have no experience with the rear 5100s but I would think it would be a straight across bolt in job going from what I have read.

Bilstein (5100's) recommend you use the stock coils up front, as they are designed for them. Vendors will try to upsale you on coils.

AAL is adding an extra leaf in the rear to raise it. No need if you are only raising the front 1", as it will now level the truck, and not have that "Taco lean" anymore. Also adding 5100s in the rea will not lift the rear. You either need a AAL or 1" block.

Best bang for the buck, is to raise the front 2" with the 5100's, and ad a 1" block in the rear. Doesn't change the factory ride at all, and looks really good. If you don't carry weight in the back, no need for AAL.

This is basically the OEM TRD lift at a fraction of the price.

Regardless of which way you go, you should get an alignment done afterwards.

Thanks for all the info, that all makes sense. I think I am going to do an inch up front, and level in the back. I was wanting to get 5100s in the back more for ride quality than anything else. I would imagine those 5100s ride significantly better than my SR suspension.

I cant speak for SR shocks, never been in one. But the 5100's up front made a world of difference for me. I'm sure 5100's all around will be awesome.

You will love it, good luck

With the 5100’s in the rear and aaL or block, does that affect stock ride quality? Which is better for DD/offroad I have a new 22 trd offroad and am trying to obtain stock on rode plushness with a 1” - 1.5” lift front and back to keep stock rake, both front and back with the same amount of lift. Anyone have any experience with a brand new offroad swapped with this set up? Do the 5100’s get stiffer the more lift/notches? Can you set them up to feel like soft factory shocks? I put 5100’s and toy tech springs on my 2003 (clapped out factory suspension) 4wd 4Runner I think it was 2.” front and 2.5” back it felt pretty plush in that application… fronts were at 1.75? Great info here, thanks in advance. I searched answers and I think this thread is top 3 for the 4600/5100 info

5100’s, in my experience, ride firmer than the stock TRD OR shocks in a very good way. Less brake dive and less wallow, and less likely to blow through your travel on a bump or curb. The truck just feels more planted.

However, if plush is your thing, they are less plush than factory. In my opinion the ride is “better” on 5100s, but not drastically different, though everything is subjective and a matter of opinion. If I bought a TRD OR tomorrow, I’d throw out the factory shocks within the first week and put 5100’s on all corners even if I wasn’t going to lift it.

Tires and tire pressure will make as great a difference.

^^ this is a good point, what tire pressure are you running? I know mine had come way over inflated and dropping to 30lbs was very helpful

Keep in mind the factory TRD lift is a 2/1" lift with a 1" block in the rear. This makes the truck level. Bilstein 5100s are bigger and better in every way than the stock OR 4600 Bilstein shocks.
