Just got my 5100's for the front of my 2010 trd offroad. Is it ok to put at highest setting with stock coils and if so how many inches of lift will level the rear?

You can put it to the highest setting, however it will ride very firm with the off-road springs. Approximately 1.5" in the rear will level the truck. Check to make sure that you have the 2+1 rear leaf springs. (2 arched and a thicker flat leaf on the bottom).

Thanks for your reply! That's what I was afraid of. Maybe I will go with the 1.75 setting and a 1 inch for the rear. I'm trying to keep as close to the factory ride as I can cause I do a lot of pavement pounding during the week. And yes, I do have the 2+1 springs.

there was some serious assuming going on here. What cab do you have? I got over 2" on my Access Cab with 5100s set at 1.75

You can also try different springs to achieve lift with the 5100s, and have a softer ride. I dont personally know which aftermarket springs are softer.

Perhaps you missed when i said approximately. Ive had 2 different trucks, offroad and sport with 5100s. Both at different lift settings.

OP, do you have a double cab or an access cab?

I have an access cab. Just trying to make sure I order the right lift for the rear. I know blocks are the cheap and not necessarily right way for the rear but if I only need an inch or so wouldn't they work fine? I'm not trying to get crazy offroad cause unlike my 93 pickup I do not want to risk body damage. Thanks for everyone's help!

I would personally go 1.5" add a leaf in the rear. Short of a whole new leaf pack, that's the "right" way to do it. You can set the 5100s at 1.75 and throw the 1.5" in the rear and you'll be perfect. You should keep the same rake too since you're keeping it pretty much equal on each side. This way you won't be nose high, especially with something in the bed.

Another thing to note. That AALs are right around the same price as blocks. Generally about $80.

Ok thanks. I will definitely take that advice. I was just worried that aal's would cause a harsh ride. Is this true?

Not in my opinion! I have the 2" AAL and it seems to ride just fine. I don't really notice a difference over stock. With blocks, you're more prone to axle wrap but with an AAL it actually increases your payload a little bit (so I've heard, and it makes sense)

    No diff drop.

You shouldn't need a carrier bearing drop either.

My access cab yielded pretty close to 2.5" of lift at the 1.75 setting. That has come down with the addition of armor. I'm putting in new shocks soon with 885 coils. I'll be putting my 5100s up for sale with coils set at 1.75. They have about 30k miles on them.

I had the exact same access cab off road prior to my sport dclb. A single aal will have a slightly rougher ride over factory. Thats what i had on mine. A toyotec 1.5" aal. I also had the 2.5" setting with the off road springs. Some people dont mind it, but the whole thing was a stiff ride. Felt like a stiff suspension of a sports car. A leaf pack should provide a softer ride over a single aal and they dont cost too much. The thing about a leaf pack is your gaining height through many leafs, as opposed to 1 single stiff leaf. I purchased a 1.5" icon progressive leaf pack about a month ago, just waiting for some free time to install it.

How much lift did you get at the 2.5 setting? I'd guess 3.5"+ and a gnarly harsh ride, to boot!

Mine was pretty much a perfect 2.5" lift. As is my current 1.75" lift. Bilstein 5100s should give a close lift to the stated adjustment. The only reason they should be way different is with different springs.

This is 2.5" lift in the front and 1.5" lift in the rear with the 2+1 rear springs. This achieved almost a perfect level stance.

This is my current with 1.75" lift in the front and 1" lift in the rear with 3+1 rear springs. Close to a level stance, just a slight rake.

With your current truck did you need new UCAs for alignment? I just purchased a 2011 TRD Sport DC LB and have ordered Bilsteins 5100 for the front to level it out. It has the TSB leafs and there is a 2" difference from front to back, so I was thinking off setting the new Bilsteins at 1.75 with the factory spring and leaving the rear as is for now. I'm hoping this will level it out. Then installing either 275/70R17 or 265/65R17. But I've been doing a lot of reading and some are saying you need new UCAs to get a good alignment and some are saying you don't, so I'm not sure.

Sorry for hijacking your thread 2010browntacotrd
