So I have a 2009 DC Sport 4x4 and my dealership has ordered by replacement leaf springs so I will be getting those installed soon. I haven't done anything to the suspension yet but want a small lift just to level it out and improve the off-road ride. I'm going to order 5100's for the front and need to know what setting to put it at. I've installed AAL and spacers before on my previous Taco but now don't have the time to do an install so thinking about getting a shop to install the 5100's before my leaf spring install at the dealer so I can get a free alignment. The new recall springs are 3+1 I believe so should I set the 5100's at 1.75 and pray its level??? Don't want the bro lean at all...

That should level it out, but it's tricky to say for sure because every truck is different and different people get different amounts of lift from the same exact setting. Weird, I know. That should work fine though and if you don't like it, changing it up isn't too hard! It's going to ride a bit rough though

You have use a press to install the 5100's into the coils to install correct?
It will be rough with the stock coils? Is that the reason? If it rides a little stiffer than that will be fine, prefer that. Thanks for the help.

OP, I would put your Bilsteins in and set them at the height you want them at. Then have your shop make you a custom AAL to level the truck or keep the factory front rake. That's what I did initially.

Sorry, tell a lie. I did 885 OME coils in the front with my billies set at 0. The shop then did a .5" AAL to level my truck. In the end though the idea is the same. Custom AAL to level the truck or get the factory stance back.

It's rough with stock coils because you're preloading the shock, and limiting travel. If you set them at 0 and got aftermarket coils to provide lift, it would ride smoother.

Depends on how much sag the ass end has, throw the 5100's on at the desired setting & measure from there...

Sorry for all the questions, but can you remember what your numbers were when you had your alignment done? I'm having my trucked levelled this week at the 1.75 setting with the stock UCAs. Just want to make sure the garage does a good job with the alignment.

Nope, no idea. I went to an old school place where I don't even know if they knew the numbers. All I know is that my truck drives great! The numbers you typically want to shoot for are 0 toe, 0 camber, and ~2.5 caster

I have a 2009 dcsb 4x4 and Was thinking of buying from headstrong either the bilstein 5100/ 887/ Dakar/ LR UCA for 3 inch lift and 285 70 17 ko2 tires. Or getting the performance kit with 6112/5160/ Dakar. I wanted to get a 3 " lift so that I would have room for the 285's. Not sure if this kit would get me 3" and if I could use 285s. Also not sure if I would need and UCA with that kit either. I am definitely a newbie, but I want to do it right the first time with little regrets. Any help or suggestions would be helpful

I guess if both kits would accommodate the 285 it comes down to quality and price. I can get the 6112 setup for the same money as the 5100 minus the UCAs. If I don't need the UCAs with the 6112 kit then that seems like the way to go. I don't know if the 6112 kit can get the full 3" or just 2.5" in which I wouldn't need the UCAs. I don't do a lot of off-roading. But I do want it to perform as best as possible and be as big of a lift without getting into a lot of money and having to alter my truck too much. I definitely want to stay within the 2.5 to 3". Thanks

Does anyone have pictures or a thread that can show what was needed to get trimmed to fit 33's with a 5100/887/LR UCA/ Dakar? Thanks TW fam

Here's how to do a CMC. The rest varies per truck, which usually involves trimming plastic and hammering back a little metal thats hiding behind the plastic (pinch weld)

I had the 5100s installed up front on stock Sport coils, 1.75 setting. The rear sits just a tad lower then stock when empty, so I'm wanting to install a 1" AAL in the back. I want to do the AAL install myself and was curious if I would need new U bolts and shocks on the rear also.

I would imagine that lifting the rear would require a shock with more travel, but just asking if it's necessary with smaller AAL's such as a 1 inch.

I don't believe anyone makes an AAL that small.

Like he said. Smallest amount with an aal is 1.5". Leaf packs like the icons are usually 2", and if you remove the overload leaf it drops to 1.5".

Your best bet is to just get a 1.5" AAL. I highly doubt you'll notice that fraction of an inch to the naked eye. Besides, a hair of rake looks good anyways.

Thanks. So with a 1.5 AAL, new shocks and U bolts? The truck has about 12k on it.

Don't need new U bolts, but you should get 5100s for the rear as well. You don't have to, but you should so you don't blow your stock shock.

Usually comes with new u bolts, but if not its a good idea to get them. Shocks are recommended for the extra length. You dont absolutely need them if you dont flex the rear end. Its not as big of a deal.
