Bilstein 5100 + eibach coils maxed out

I went with wildpeaks they are a good tire but I want to go more aggressive next time and also to a skinny 33

 

Is this a 2" lift?

 

It’s not available in the 16” except E-load and a 33”. I run a set of 16’s and the 4Runner pro 17’s. These would be ideal for the 17’s, but yes, installed would be like $1200

 

I'm trying my darndest not to regear.... I dont haul stuff and I didnt buy my tacoma for the gas mileage.... my daily driver used to be a lifted wrangler on 33s... so I'm used to getting 12 mpg lol

 

Even in a e rated its 55lbs, on the lighter side. For the 255 85 16

 

Its sold as a 2 in lift but with the install wrong it is currently sitting at about 3.25 right now

 

What rims are those?

Update:

we redid the front shock assemblies and brought them back down to the bottom setting. This was done saturday morning. Yesterday, Sunday afternoon, i took measurements from hub to fender. The passenger side measured 22.25" and the driver side measured 22". So my next question is.... im thinking of upping the socks a little bit to try and get it at 23 inches. thoughts?

 

@SpeySquatch so can we safely say any spring length greater than stock that increase static ride height also immediately decreases the amount of droop or down travel with stock length shocks being sold in aftermarket kits?

literally just came to this conclusion and it’s funny because I’ve always known this about rear shocks - only way to increase travel down (and up) in the rear is by longer shocks and relocating them.

thus essentially, we really shouldn’t be lifting our front ends more than 1-1.5” because all that’s doing is decreasing down travel for the sake of a look as the shock length and location is still the same...

I feel If people actually researched collapsed and extended length of shocks wed see the gimmick. Are any aftermarket front shocks significantly longer in length than stock?

I feel like to avoid reducing down travel you MUST try and find a shock that is “x” amount longer to match your lift. In reality most high end Tacoma front shocks have an extra 1” of travel so ideally you wouldn’t want to lift your front past that for optimal performance lol

Not sure I can help you on that. I have extended travel shocks with 14” coils and do not experience top out with 1.5” of lift.

I do agree there is marketing and “gimmicks” behind some shocks

 

I have Bilstein 5100's, and I'm planning to swap the stock coil springs for 3" performance Ironman coil springs. Does anyone know if the Bilstein 5100 can handle the spring rate from the 3" Ironman Coil springs? Will I be good? Thanks

 

Well this thread was fun and super informative. I wish BadKitty didn't delete his account so I could ask him some questions. For those of you that stumbled on this late, it is clear he knows what he's talking about (just delivers it like a dick). It seems clear to me that after researching (not done yet) and buying 5100s... this whole preload/coil/whatever is just a gimmick and all of those options reduce the ability of a standard shock to perform at its best level. It's too bad our trucks look so much better just a few inches higher!

No rub anywhere
Will probably swap out 1” Block for 1.5” AAL kit
