Let me know if you manage to break one ;)

The boots have much better angles than stock. You shouldn't tear one of those boots just from driving.

I'd rather my cv's were the weak link, not the front diff personally

In my opinion, If you grenade your diff from off roading then you're pushing it too far.

If I start spinning on rocks I stop back up and try a different line. There have been many times where people go up a hard line and smoke their tires and afterwards I find a better line on the same obstacle that is a challenge, but requires no tire spin.

I'm just pointing out a scenario in which one might find oneself in the hole a grand over some special axles that didn't do much better than replacements.

I'm sure they're pretty damn tough I wouldn't deny they would last I'm just saying, you never know.

I see what you're saying, but the majority of the time you break a cv first regardless if you are wheeling crazy or not. I'd rather my CV break than something inside the diff. Doing the boot slide mod the correct way with a lip welded onto the cv shaft would be a whole lot cheaper, and you are keeping the weak link the cv axles. Even wheeling carefully it's still very possible to break a cv in low gear. Going slow helps, but you can still have a sudden loss/ return of traction. Rather have the cv snap than damage something inside the diff.

I'm curious to know how much your front 5100's w/Eibach (Toytec) coils settled after break in and how long it took. Also, did it take a good amount of weight (front bumper armor, winch, etc.) to help them settle in? I have the standard 620lb coils and have put about 1,000 miles on them, but they don't seem to have settled down any. Plus, I don't have any additional weight added, other than stock components. I only care because I'd like to know if any additional stress/angle will be taken off of the front cv's. Also, for all those who are running stock leaf packs w/the Toytec AAL, did you do/add anything else (shackles, etc.) to help bump up the rear a tad bit more? Not a concern, but the leveled look makes the front appear higher.

3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.

I have the eibachs and they havent settled much either. Ive put a good 5K miles on them so far and im sitting at 26" mid hub to bottom of fender on the front. I know they say 3" lift but the eibachs give roughly 3.25" maybe more for Xtra cabs and 4cyl trucks. Ive read from others that weight is the best thing for the eibachs. I should have a plate bumper and skids on in the next month or so which will add about 150lbs to the front end. Im hoping the eibachs wont sag too much after?

Cool. Ya that's what I'm noticing too as far as actual height that these coils produce. I figured some armor would be a definate way of settling them in, but wasn't sure if there were any other ways. Update us and let me know how much the armor weighs and about how much it helps them settle. I have a double cab 4wd and they still push 3.25"sh.. I can't imagine how much strain they'd put on a reg cab 4 cyl.
    Thanks

So I have been looking through this thread for quite a while now. I see on ToyTec's website that you can individually add all the components to build this spring/shock combo with Bilstein 5100, Eibachs and the AAL. Is that the same as ordering the +05 Tacoma "kit" that they offer?

    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/Bilstein-Adjustable-lift-kit-with-5100-shocks_p_132.html

I checked and all the part numbers look to be the same... Sorry if this has been answered already!

yeah the kit is just all the components together in a package.

I guess my question was more directed at the fact that at the top of the page is says +05 Tacoma. I have a '96, should have clarified. Sorry.

No, 2nd gen suspension won't fit on a 1st gen.

If you have a 96 then check out the 95-04 section on toytec. I believe they have the same setup for first gens. On a first gen the eibachs give roughly 3.25" eventhough they advertise as 3" lift coils. Also if you get this setup for your first gen leave the C clip on the lowest notch. Do not move it to the middle like they say to do on the 2005+ page, thats only for 2nd gens.

Well I just looked at the toytec website and they dont have a whole setup with the eibachs and billies. But if you piece the Eibachs, AAL's, and all 4 billies then its right at $600. So roughly the same as the 2nd gen setup

Okay thanks. That is what I figured. All the part numbers looked the same so that is why I was confused.

I couldn't find a "kit" like they have for the other models but I found all the pieces.

Just call them and tell them you are looking for the same kit, but for a 1st gen. They have a kit already together but just don't have it on their website for some reason. I ordered mine a few months back and they knew exactly what I needed as a kit. Came out to $600 + shipping and assembly (if needed).

Just got the full lift set from toytec. Is this the right settng? After looking at pictures mine look different as far as where the threads are. They look to be further down towards the lower mounting point? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am hoping to get started on the front today. Did the rear yesterday with the Dakar packs.

Those are different than what we are talking about. There is no "right" setting on what you have. You can crank them up or down to whatever suits you.

You bought the Toytec version of a Coilover. Are the coils Eibachs?
Either way you should have been sent a wrench to adjust the Coilovers. My guess is the higher you turn them, the more lift you get.
