..not sure why you would. Should work. Id spend the money on something else if i was you. Use it towards taller tires. or sliders.

    Suggestions appreciated,

About a year ago I had my frame replaced and got new rear leaf packs, I had them put on the toytech's 2" aal and 5100's all around @ max setting. I would like to bring my 5100's back to 0 and upgrade coils. I drive about 80% highway and 15% horrible WV back roads and 5% off road. I want it to look level and ride a bit better than it currently does, what set of coils would be best for me?? Eibach? OEM? I have the diff drop already installed.

    Thanks to anyone that replies!!

you'll prolly have a tiny bit of bro lean, but not much. After the coils settle it'll be pretty close i think.

With Just the 5100's @ max setting I am sitting a little high in the rear but not horrible, about the stock look only a little higher. I just ordered the Eibach coils and if I were to do everything over again I would have had them put on from the start, they cost me a $160 but now I have to pay for another alignment and labor to have those coils put on.

    Hello Everyone!!
I'd just like to start off by saying that it is awesome to have finally found a group of people who share the same interests as I do and that it is great that I finally decided to sign up here; being that I've been trying to do majority of my research here.. :)

    Besides my little intro..
I had some questions about this subject (Bilstein 5100/Eibach). I've been a big fan of these setups for the 1st gen tacomas for some time now, but never really decided to do much research on them until now (being that I'm looking to change my "front end" set-up).
I currently have Old Man Emu's struts and coils on my 97' Tacoma (2.7l). I really do like the ride of them and I can't say anything bad about ride comfort and durability; its just that I wanted to lift the front end of my Tacoma a few more inches (to help clear larger tires) by use of a Spacer lift kit. Except for the OME's won't accept spacers to be used with my setup.
But I've been reading that the Eibach/Toytec coils along with the Bilstein 5100's will help my achieve (correct me if I'm wrong please) a total of 3" without the use of a spacer lift.?

Does anyone know if it would be possible to achieve a 3 inch lift with the OME set up I have now? Or would I just have to go ahead and get me some Bilsteins and Eibachs?

Any help would be much appreciated.
I just love the fact that I can come here and talk to people about the same interests that I have.

    Thanks Everyone,
    Mahalo!

I PM'd you with a little bit of info-

these give 1st gens a little more than 3" of lift, and you'll probably get a little more on top of that since you have the I4.

Toytec sells the pre-assembled coilovers with the 5100's as a "budget" coilover; but it's cheaper to buy the coils from toytec, the 5100's from downsouth, then just have the coils mounted to the 5100's at your house or at a shop

And because your a 2.7l, you defineitly have more the 3'' lol

What OME coils do you have? 883s should be around 3''. Eibachs are the best lift spring tho and have a higher spring rate for bumpers and winches as well compared to the OME coils.

I would never get spacers personally. It'll actually hurt the ride.

Thanks for the response guys! Much appreciated!

Hey blackdawg, I'm not to sure which OME coils I have, I just know there not the ones that total up to 3". I believe they only sit 1.5" higher than the stock coils and struts. So not much front end lift going on with my front end. But the ride is pretty comfortable. :)

And thanks for the pm'ing me konaborne,
I think I'll take your advice and purchase the coils from toytec and the 5100's from down south. Plus, I think I read that they give discount for people who are on the TM forums. :yay: I just hope the shipping prices aren't too bad, being that we live in Hawaii. (does anyone know roughly how much it would be to have those shipped out to Hawaii?)

And I have to agree with you both about getting more lift, being that my truck is a 4cyl. :D More lift wouldn't hurt in my opinion, just so I can get my 32's to clear without any kind of unwanted rubbing.
And I'm pretty much over the whole spacer lift any ways. I never liked the way they looked, and they always seemed dangerous to me.

yea there aren't good. And funny, Konaborne is in Hawaii too so he'll know.

The Eibachs will give you way more lift then the OMEs, and easily fit 32s.

So yesterday I installed my 5100's all around with a wheelers 3 leaf add a leaf in the rear and the eibach coils up front. All of this on my 2004 ex cab i4 It looks good but the front is sitting so high. Is there anything to worry about as far as steering or any of the 4wd joints up front? I was thinking about maybe taking the eibachs out and putting the stock coil back in with the bilsteins set at the middle setting, would that work?

I know I need to do the boot slide mod but other than that am I just worrying too much? I'm usually a cheapskate leave your vehicle stock and enjoy it reliably type of guy so maybe that's all it is.

    Also pics soon to come!

steering no, CV joints, yes. Get a diff drop kit and do the boot slide mod.

and what are you running in the back? Wheelers doesn't make a 3pk leaf. Only 4 and 5 pks.

I found with my 5pks i need their AAL too to help balance them out. Part of the reason you r front is so high is due to the I4 instead of a V6. They will settle a bit tho.

He said he has the 3 leaf add a leaf from wheelers, not a 3 leaf pack. ;)

It's supposed to give a better ride than a single AAL and probably last longer as well.
