The dealer in my town that I went to first had denied installing my lift because of “warranty issues” so I went to a shop and then contacted a different Toyota dealer:tumbleweed:

I hate dealerships. Everything to do with them feels like a scam. They mark up everything way beyond any reasonable considerations and really have no more experience and know how in their mechanic shops than any other place. They guarantee their business by making you sign specific warranty documents that requires you to use them and when you want to add high end components to maximize the use of your vehicle they are so quick to deny your warranty. You just cant win or even get what you pay for dealing with those con artists. Somehow it should be illegal.

But they did the work on it themselves. I have a feeling that the dealership near me will not cover certain things now because i installed my bilsteins by myself. Then again, this is my first toyota so i dont know how they will deal with certain things. I had a pretty modified mustang GT before my taco, suspension work, engine work and a race tune and never had warranty issues when i went to the dealership

    Look up Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
The dealer would have to prove a DIRECR cause for failure due to your modification. They may hassle but in the end unless they’re going to fork out time and money to prove you wrong they HAVE TO replace components under warranty.

As Rustytaco said doing it yourself should not void warranty as long as followed manufacturer instal instructions and torqued everything per spec. The is nothing stating they are more qualified than you.

Buy the parts and install them yourself. Not a difficult job and you'll save a ton of money that you can put towards other mods. The tacoma game gets expensive when you need other people to do your mods. Check out my post on 2nd gen lifts. Your 3rd gen shouldn't be too far off.
