well you should have a problem with a gap b/c that means not everything is getting compressed like it should. That lip like others have mentioned above with me is something new to all of us. Does it look like it is screwed down on the threads and can be removed?

agree, take it apart and show us a pic of all the parts in order of how they were installed and your problem should be clear to all at that point.

Good idea. spend the hour it takes to get that thing out and apart to find a solution than spending days and hours on the internet with wild guesses and maybe solutions.

The 24-239370 is the right pt number, I just think he linked the wrong one.
I want to know if it's the actual one they sent him though. That top piece is strange.

Good Catch. I'd agree. Also still think you're missing a washer under the bottom rubber bushing and the shock boot collar.

It fits though, and rides great, was just seeing if anyone experienced this lip, and no one has. I have to wait for my uncle to make room in his shop

I dont see how that would be possible then, if that lip is for the top hat, then there wouldnt be any room for the top bushings and washer, let alone getting the top nut on

Where are you getting this picture from? It's the second one I've seen, this pic is from the toyota catalog with my VIN number.

hands down missing the lower washer. This was due to incorrect install.

This makes the most sense. That piece looks out of place on top of the top hat. You can't really look at OEM diagrams when using aftermarket parts but it looks like you are missing the lower retainer(washer) and that piece should be under the top hat, not on top of it. You might need new washers now since you drilled them out to fit over it.

Even though they’re aftermarket, the Bilstein 5100s are made to fit all OEM components, that’s why they only came with a new nut.

When we installed them, there wasn’t any bottom washers or retainers, I don’t know if they were taken off from the prior owner or just rotted away, thought that the bottom bushing was the retainer since they called it a retaining cushion, but I guess it’s just attatched to the hat..I got new lower retainers(48510Q), new bushings(48510J), and top washers(48510B) today, going to disassemble soon as my uncle gets a spot opened up. And emailed Bilstein about that lip. Just crazy that they’re riding real nicely though, no noises or anything.. Thanks for all the assistance and patience dudes. I’ll keep in touch.
