pull apart and put a thick fender washer of the right ID above the collar for the boot and call it good.

Ok fellas, got em off and re assembled, added the bottom washers, got new top washers and bushings. It was the metal sleeve from the hat that was in the way.20190409_184157.jpg 20190409_193828.jpg

Probably nothing but did you tighten the three nuts on top? They’re loose in the photo.

That’s what I figured. But would have felt like crap not saying something and you ran into a issue down the road. (Pun unintended)

Anyone know what the extra metal washer is with the installation kit for the Bilstein 5100 height adjustable shock? The kit comes with the rubber bushing, a lower washer, an upper washer, a nut, the spring seat, and a large extra metal washer. What is that for??

A picture would have helped but if it’s a 1/4” thick it goes on the drivers side for the Tacoma lean. It sits on top where the three studs are.

This is a pic of the setup/order for a 2nd gen. Can't imagine it's different for 3rd gen.

Thanks for the inputs. I figured it out - the extra washer is for trd offtoad when the shocks are set at the highest lift setting. It was small print in the instruction sheet.

Got them put on today. Set at second height. Raised front ~3/4”. Perfect for me. Rides great.

I posted another question in this forum about the KYB top hat washers and in looking more at this thread it looks like the smaller washer goes on first then the lower top hat (with bushing) then the loose bushing and the larger thicker washer on top of that then the nut. Is that correct? Thanks I wish mine was that clean underneath.

That was really helpful. Is there a list of torque specs just for the bolts in this video?
