Hi All- First time posting here, but I am a long time wheeler. I just sold my rockcrawler to buy a 2012 Tacoma, something a little better to take the kids camping. Anyways I purchased a used set of Light racing A-arms and 5100's from a guy and then purchased Toytec's 521-600 springs. I went to install everything this weekend and ran into some major issues with the spring/strut combination and I believe the 5100's are the wrong ones. Below is a picture of my stock strut next to the 5100 the base plate on the 5100 at the lowest setting is 2" higher than the stock one. combine that with the 2.5" lift springs and there is so much preload the suspension won't move. The P/n on my 5100 is 24186711H1 which looks like the old P/N that Bilstein shows for the 2nd gen Tacomas. Does anyone know what the difference is between the new and the old shocks, I am assuming it may have been the baseplate height. I just want to make sure before I order new 5100's and have the same issue.

You've got the bottom spring mount upside down. Should point down like a bell.

Also don't think those are 5100 as the look to be the stock ones found on the TRD version tacomas , 5100 are height adjustable
