    hey guys,
    long time lurker, newer poster.

I have an Icon 3 leaf AAL on the back. this one to be exact:
    http://downsouthmotorsports.com/i-4...oma-6-lug-05-current-rear-add-a-leaf-kit.html

I blew out a 5100 shock on the back passenger side after 3 months. part number 24-186728.

I called bilstein for warranty and they are telling me this shock is only good for a maximum of 1" of lift.

anyone else hear this? i've read that many folks on here use 5100's with up to 3" lift without issue.

overall he told me to measure difference between full downswoop and resting position to make sure the shock had enough travel and then to call them back and find out what shock to use. he said maybe a 5125.

just odd that he said a 5100 is insufficient.

    thoughts?

The rears are only good for 0-1" of lift only.

I believe Guys are getting 2-3" of lift up front!

I think you mistook the front lift for the rear?

5100s are stock length shocks. They can handle UP TO 2" of lift, for 2-3" lifts you want 5125s, for 3-4" you want B110s.

Also don't bother with a warranty, Bilstein will fuck you hard. Just replace it, or better, buy the correct shock for your setup.

there's 2 different versions on the 5100 I believe the standard one and the extended version. you might want to try the extended version

Called bilstein directly. They stated they don't have an extended 5100 for tacomas

He told me to go to a 5160. This is way more expensive because it has a remote oil canister also od have to use a stem to eye adapter.then told me not to use a 5125 because the valving isn't right for tacos.

Called an offroad shop and they say they use 5125 on Tacoma all the time. Gave me a part number for a 26" shock.

    Bilstein 33-230337

Will use this as its also sold online as a Tacoma shock for lifted trucks.
