<--- Look over there for the full list of suspension goodies. Ride quality on paved, city roads is still a little harsh IMO. Definitely notice cracks in the road, potholes etc but ride quality offroad and on the highway is much improved which is where I spend the majority of my time. I rarely ever (maybe 4 times in 3 years) carry anything in the bed but recently made a trek with a few hundred pounds back there and I was surprised as how smooth the truck rode...this set up can handle the weight but is still comfortable with an empty bed as well.

i run 883 coils and 5100's i think if i were to do it again i would go ome shocks and 882's the rides a lil rough on road, and btw we both have double cabs and that will make a difference in lift height and handling, so you may wanna put that in perspective when looking at coils

kings probably ride nicer and what not but have to be rebuilt every so often, i would have gone for them but OME makes a good product too

The reason why I think that I am going to go with the 1500s on the front is because they are only slightly more expensive than the standard bilsteins and are supposed to be better shocks especially for offroad. So I figured that I might as well give them a shot.

You were correct in assuming that I ment to say that I am looking at getting the wheeler's Alcan springs NOT the OME ones. Thanks so much for your help, your information is very valuable, same to the others who posted before you; Janster, MTgirl, and everyone else.

I also just want to say that I am new to Tacoma World as you can see and so far I am extremely impressed with the community and I am falling in love already. You all have helped me so much just in the short time that I have been a member. Thank you! I look forward to getting to know everyone better in the future.

I've put about 9,000 miles so far on my OME setup and I love them. I have no experience with the 5100s but I figured if I was going with OME coils, I might as well spend a few extra bucks on the Nitrochargers. My rear with a Toytec AAL rides sort of rough and when they wear out I'll be replacing with the Dakars.

Maybe I'm just an ARB fanboy. I even prefer their bumper over anyone elses.

Thanks for the good info and pointing me in the right direction! :) New here and still figuring my way around. As for your setup, sounds just like what I'm shooting for.

Same situation and agree completely! Thanks everyone

You're welcome. We were all trying to figure out the same stuff last year, and there are a lot factors and options to consider, so we are just paying it forward.

Thanks. Actually, an 01, built August 01, so almost an 02, and I bought it in 09. No, you can't steal the photo! You need to earn it. Go drive up the Laurel Lake trail near Mammoth Lakes, CA, and you can take your own. It is a fun, and extremely scenic, trail!

And like any 'love' it will cost you...seriously. Watch the bank account closely. Spending time here has a way of draining your bank account.

Happy to help out, its a big investment and there are lots of choices out there - Definitely got to get it right the first time!

Last year? I think your memory is failing you there, Bucky! It was this year, just 6 short months ago.

Er, uh, der, um. That's not the only thing failing me. Seems like a year ago. But the suspension was pissing me off last November, ma'am, and that's when I started trying to figure out WTFWGO.

Now excuse my while I go find my bi-focals and put on some fresh Depends.

Oh nice! I'll keep that trail in mind, man... thanks! I spend most of my wheeling time up in the Big Bear area, and high desert near it, but if I get up that way.....I just picked up my '03 about 2 months ago. Original owner, prestine engine, all the records, and runs like a champ! I do need a new clutch, a serious T/C maintenance, new mudders, and suspension all around. I can afford to throw some spec billies on there, but I'm waiting to get my resevoired Kings up front... about $1500 for the shocks alone =\ Probably putting B-5100's on the back with some shacks. Lookin for about 2.5 - 3".

Has anyone on here gone from the the 5100s set at 2.5" to OME coils? Was the ride noticibly better? Im in that position right now with the billies set at 2.5 on stock coils and the ride is kinda rough. Also has anyone compared OME 881 coils Vs Eibach coils?

When I first had the front end installed the shop mistakenly put the 5100's up on the highest setting and the ride was awful and unsafe. 881's are too long and too stiff to work with the Bilsteins in that set up. You're risking damage to the shocks by running them with those coils.

IMO, the 881's with billy 5100's @ 0 are perfect. Not overly soft, not overly firm. Makes you feel in control of all situations. Do it, you won't regret it.

the question was about bilstein's at 2.5 with 881's not bilstein's at zero. zero = good...2.5 = no way

I had read similar thoughts on the 883 springs right after installing the lift but rab89 did some research and called up someone for arb who confirmed they are meant for double cabs and heavier front ends
