Has anyone heard of Bilstein 5100 not being made for OME 888's? meaning 888's are too tall for Bilstein 5100 so it tops out and causes a clunk? It was explained to me as "Bilstein 5100 are not made to lengthen the way the 888's are making it stretch further than it could handle which is causing a clunking noise." Any input is appreciated.

Have this exact setup and definitely no clunks with mine. What setting are your 5100's on?

Oh you’ll be happy with it really good set up. I don’t think 4WP knows what they were talking about or cared to really diagnose the issue. I think I have found that the issue is with the SPC arms which are bad bushings. SPC asked me to loosen the torque in the through bolt and if I shake the truck without noise then it’s bad busbings which I did and we’re gonna replace that and go from there.4WP talked about my billies were not made for 888 which just didn’t make any sense to me so I came to the forums for guidance. I had about 50k miles on em still going strong the issue is not the strut or coils it’s and arms so the set up is great and cheap.

Yeah I don’t think it’s the strut or the coil I believe 4WP just wasn’t sure how to diagnose the issue and made a big circle and said the strut was not made for 888. I loosened the bolt on my arms through bolt which is what SPc asked me to do to diagnose and he said if it still clunks with through bolt loose then it’s something else. Well I did it yesterday and I loosened the through bolt and guess what no noise so that tells me it’s the bushings. I will get that replaced and see what happens next. Full warranty from SPC. Mine are set to the 3rd perch I believed 2.75? I was just very confused as to why they would even say billies were not made for the 888 set up haha.

If you are running 5100's and ome 888's, the 5100's should be set at the bottom (stock) setting, anything higher and its not good. Drop them back down, let the 888's do the lifting, and enjoy no more clunking.

I have the 887s and have a rake on my front and was thinking about setting it on the 3rd notch to bring the front higher. Would this be a bad thing to do?

Its not recommended to have them raised above the first and lowest setting because the 887 will provide the lift, and as you raise the 5100's, ride quality will suffer. So it will work putting it up to the 3rd notch, the ride quality will go down. Try it out, if you're ok with the ride quality, and there isn't any problems such as vibrations or clunking, go for it. if there is, drop it down.
