    Hey everyone,
so I'm new here. I just bought a 16 TRD sport DCLB. I am installing the bilstein 5100 3" lift kit i got from Low-Range OffRoad. The kit came with OME 2887 coils and I'm wondering to get the full 3" lift do i have to adjust the 5100's to the top setting or are the coils already going to lift it 3" on the bottom setting. Basically what I'm asking is do i leave the 5100's at the bottom setting with the coils or do i adjust the 5100's to the top setting with the coils to achieve the 3" lift I'm looking for?

5100s with lift coils should be on the lowest setting.

^^^^ That.. the coils to the lifting 885 is 1.5-2" lift the 887s are really 2-2.5" ... I wouldn't worry to get the full 3" lift, you're gonna really dig the change from stock to the 5100s with OME coils. Ride will be a lot smoother but stiffer and off-road wow.. HUGE difference.

If you read the fine print on the Low-Range website it states 0-2.5" of lift.. I know it's listed as a 3" lift ...

    I have the same lift
    887 with 5100's

I left the 5100's at zero and have a 1/4 lean spacer and it gave me 2 1/2 lift in the front a little more

Some other TW member has the same lift and he adjusted the 5100's to .85 and he ran into problems

Do the 5100's set at zero give any lift for a 2016 TRD Off-Road? Does it depend on the coils used? Sorry, I don't really understand how it works.

5100s don't provide lift themselves. They're just the dampener. The lift comes from the coils.

The way it lifts with stock coils is by moving the perch and coil upwards.

Thanks! Is there any benefit to the 5100's with a TRD Off-Road? Can I get a lift if I set them higher and use different coils? If I got them I was thinking of setting them at 0.85.

So you (generally) either set them at 0 and use aftermarket coils, or set them higher and use stock coils.

As a general rule, it's better to just let the coils provide the lift for your truck. Preloading (raising) adjustable shocks makes for a stiffer, less quality ride.

If you're only looking for a 2" lift or so then a set of OME coils will do the trick, with the 5100's left at 0". A lot of people set them to .85" though and don't seem to run into any major issues.

Thanks again! Can I use the 4600's on my Off-Road with the OME coils to get a lift? Or are they not compatible with a lift?

Nope. They're too short and you'll over extend them. From what I understand, 5100s are just longer/adjustable 4600s.

The TDR OR has the same shocks = Bilstein 4600s - they are valved the same as the 5100s. The 5100s are made for a lifted truck with different springs than stock.... so for an OR to get any "gain" over stock you need new coils to lift it with the 5100s and you will have a very similar ride but a bit stiffer with new coils and of course you need something for the rear either new leaf pack with 5100s or AALs with 5100s. or Taco Bro-lean (front of truck sits higher than rear = looks like shit IMHO) without modding the rears.

How about 5100's up front set at 0 with 885's?

On an access cab the 885's yield about 1.75" up front?

Yup... about perfect. If you're in a TRD Sport this is a huge improvement over stock.

I'm trying to do the best thing up front to stay under 2" and then use the Deaver AAL I got from HeadStrong to bring the back up so there is no bro lean. I CANT STAND BRO LEAN

    I was thinking 275/70 17 BFG's but I might stick with 265/70 17's.

Hope they don't look like they missed leg day at the gym though. ha ha ha!

    You'll be okay.

I'm on 265/75/16 and 2.5ish up front (maybe a little more) and 2.75 in the rear.
